Actually during early stages the design team kept referring to it as "Supra". But in the end they chose to debut it as FT-1. Either way, whether it wears the Supra nameplate or not it will be a successor to the Supra. It is also worth noting that Toyota has display the FT-1 along side past Supra...
Past rumors have said the Z3 will be based on a shorten Z5 platform. Lexus may also its own version as well. The Z1 will be FWD. It will use the UKL platform which also used for other Mini cars.

Yeah my bad, I had posted it in the Pics/Vids section. I can't wait to see Toyota's test mules driving around. If it follows the same path as the Lexus LC, we may not see another concept.
Akio said it will be here in Spring of 2017, so that is only a year.
It is to finish testing and most likely get all the kinks out before it reaches the buyer. It doesn't seem to unusual for cars like these. The production NSX debut on 1/15, but won't be in showrooms until Spring of 2016. Same...
