It's normal, but you should really not open the coolant reservoir on a warm running car, it could burst open from pressure release and scald your skin very seriously.

From some googling it seems SN means it's newer/higher rated so if it states SN don't use oil rated with a letter after the "S" that is lower than N in the alphabet.
