I loved the thing, but it was just ridiculous to maintain. The guy before me and the guy after me had to replace the transmission, first at 50k and then at 105k.
I think that I would be equally happy with either of them, until I'm in my SFR and pull up next to a Supra. For that matter though, I had a '75 Celica GT that was probably more fun than any of them will be. Should have just kept that if we're being reasonable.
Based on Akio Toyoda's passion for driving I would be shocked and very disappointed not see a manual. Based on Toyota in general I would not be shocked though. I'm staying hopeful. I just don't think I can buy it with an automatic.
These renders make me hopeful again. I haven't seen any renders that really looked good, or even looked like the test cars, but this seems accurate and I would definitely buy.... with a manual transmission.
They've already sold several GRMN branded cars in Japan, but yeah I think your right about the future plans for Gazoo. The article seems a little misleading - "Toyota will launch its 2018 Supra under the name of its newly launched road performance arm, Gazoo." - sounds like they're saying that...
Even that guys says it sounds better than the Miata, he only goes back and says he still wishes it were louder like the 500 Abarth. I agree with that. The 500 has no muffler. I don't know why they put a muffler on the 124. I still haven't seen anyone who says the 124 sounds like crap, or even...
I hope they're right about all of this so I can spend $15k on an SFR instead of $60k on a Supra. That render doesn't look great to me, but it doesn't really look like the test cars either so I think it will end up looking better. Regardless, if the V6 only comes in the auto then at least I'll...
I haven't heard that at all as far as the sound goes. I haven't looked into comparison reviews, but I've seen quite a few statements about the sound of the 124. I mean it's the same engine as the 500 Abarth which has always been touted as making amazing sounds as well, and I know personally I...
Nope.
Maybe I missed a memo somewhere, but as far as I know Gazoo isn't a brand of Toyota Motor Sales in the sense that say Scion was. Nor is it really a newly launched performance arm... again, unless I missed something and there is some newly launched brand. Toyota has been selling GRMN...
Yeah, I thought this was pretty much accepted at this point. Toyota has said recently that it will be a different car, but it's no really clear what that means at this point. Different car or not, you put them side by side and yes, the dimensions will be nearly identical.
As far as Miata vs...
I'm still hoping that somehow it will make an appearance. I really felt like with the fact that there are functional, complete looking test vehicles being spotted we can't be nearly another year away from a reveal. Planning to give up and order a Tacoma in April if I don't see anything by then...
Now we just have to figure out if this is actually going into the Supra or if someone just thought, "oh we're developing a new TT V6, must be going in the Supra" and it's really not. These numbers sound good to me though.
I accept defeat.
In my defense, I work for Toyota and often deal with pre-production vehicles. We don't typically go to these lengths to hide a Camry. Usually a development mule will be in heavy camo, but they clearly look like not a production body. Maybe this is just how it's done now with 3D...
I could be wrong, but I don't think they're hiding a lot at this point. The front bumper is very suspect of course. The shape of the headlights are not what I expected nor common with the Toyota design language so I'm a little curious there as well and there is a ridge where the headlight is not...
