Its harder than in real life since you can't feel the slide with your ass.
You are just working with less driver information. Also, if you were in a racecar, they are definitely trickier than a road car to catch a slide.
You do have to be quick with your corrections. That's why it needs to be...
Honestly, the GRMN will just be the equivalent of that new 2024 Z4 MT sports package. Still same B58, still same interior (maybe some more color options), some aero bits, and that'll be it.
no joke. Highly recommend sim-experience if you own a performance car. Made my first track experience so much easier, and the Supra is less of a handful during spirited driving.
I had years of Assetto/iRacing in a full sim-rig experience before I got my car, and the few times my Supra started...
Yes, but applies to any map. Usually throttle can keep overboosting under control, but it can cause weird DME_BT behavior too.
Just to clarify- overboost is anytime boost > target, which subsequently means ECU_PSI > DME_BT. Usually nothing to worry about between shifts or when you let off.
I haven't drifted my car yet, but have done my fair share of power slides lol... I heard the e-diff doesn't love drifting. is that true? May not go full lock easily enough.
Usually but much lesser degree than catless.
Exhaust backpressure affects how much turbine energy the DME calculates is needed to spin the compressor to hit a boost target. Less back pressure is simply going to cause overboosting. Catless more severely than anything else.
That's why having the...
If you don't already have issues with your JB+, it'd probably be fine!
as soon as I went catless, my JB+ got jerky and I didn't like not being able to log and diagnose.
A JB4 on Map 1 should behave very similarly to the JB+. Am I remembering correctly that's what you run now?
Hard to tell, if I had to guess, it's probably because the DP has it a little out of whack. We can swap back to it to try with the FF and Duty bias on Map 4 after trying that.
Map 2 is all over the place but Map 4 has potential. lets work off of that. Just looks like overboost from DP that needs to get worked out.
Set FF to 47, set bit 1 on to keep it adapting poorly.
Duty biases for downpipe: start with these:
duty_15
duty_20
duty_25
duty_30
duty_35
duty_40...
He told me additive WGDC control worked similarly to absolute, and I have had the underboost technique working with additive a few times... Just found absolute to be more consistent.
The S58 guys said their MTs had to use absolute only - using similar underboosting.
ha no kidding, I stick to...
Emailed - also just fyi - you can download the CSV from the datazap link at the bottom right of the page.
so all my settings are there if anyone is curious.
I am surprised you are able to make so much torque. I actually have no problem running as much boost as I want 5k+ without MT shenanigans.
My problem area is 3.5-5k as you can see in the log from this morning:

Yeah, they're kind of a pain in the ass ?
The strategy is to set boost targets 2-3psi higher than you actually want, then wastegate tune (FF and duty bias) until the boost stays 2-3psi below target for the entire pull. I just call it "underboosting". Credit to @Jesse DaBears for sharing this...
Sweet, AA is not that hard to dial in with wastegate tuning.
We will do that after seeing the Map 4 log though.
Boost spikes when you let off the pedal are pretty normal. Throttle plate closes and that high pressure won't enter the cylinders. (see boost2)
Ha, this fellow SC-ian would be happy...
My MT Supra just has a Function Werk catless DP and JB4.
JB4 biggest limitation is inability to control fueling. So it can only push up to 33% more fuel than the stock map calls for. This makes it harder to make big power with ethanol. Also makes it harder to run high boost below 4k rpm or so...
Looks pretty good. Octane seems fine. I do see some boost spikes that kind of look like they may be caused by wheelspin but not completely sure. It is potentially overboosting from the downpipe (see throttle activity). I think it may be worth doing some logs on Map 4 as well!
Catless or catted...
