Just wrote a section on Ethanol blending, as it is common for people to run too much and go lean. I have seen many logs like this.
It is best to start low (~2 gal), as each car can vary how it handles the extra fuel load.
Glad you found the guide helpful! Any tips are appreciated for sure! Venmo is same as my username here - @ColonelAdama
Good luck getting your JB4 setup, any questions you may have can be posted here.
SUPRA ULTIMATE B58 JB4 GUIDE AND LOG REVIEW (V1)
Been a busy 5 months learning nearly everything there is to know about JB4 on the B58 platform. Funny how trying to get my catless MT running right turned into countless log reviews and custom tuning on the JB4tech.com forum. As Jesse said it...
I haven't tracked my car yet actually, but it has gotten driven hard in the mountains.
You certainly can get a milder map6 for track driving. Actually, it may be worth trying the Map 6 boost targets that I just recommended in this thread. If it runs decent on 91, it should be completely fine...
Yeah, your timing really cleaned up a lot running this Map 6.
Might try one more little revision to see if it is possible to eliminate the last few timing corrections:
May give a little more power, you can try both iterations and see what feels better. You can save Map 6 configs in the JB4...
Timing is finally cleaning up with that Map 6. You will need to drive it a bit more to adapt and get more powerful. I really would still recommend some ethanol. Even Map 0 has some timing corrections from low octane. Nothing more than a few degrees, but thats robbing power.
The fuel column doesn't apply to b58. Port injection only.
Duty bias usually only need to be changed if you are catless. Some high flow dps too
You can post your map 0 log too
Yes, you can see in your owners manual that up to E25 is permitted without any special tuning required. Past E30, I recommend a flex fuel kit to integrate with JB4 like Fuel It.
Do a few pulls on those absolute maps before taking a log, as they can sometimes need to adapt a bit.
You can try...
Eh, this is one of those cars where sticking with absolute maps is better.
I still haven't figured out why some cars DME request such high boost and low timing. I have reviewed logs for a few cars where this was the case, and we fixed it by running absolute maps, like that Map 6.
To answer...
Yeah, timing is crap because the DME is requesting high boost and Map 1 is stacking more on top of that. Way too much boost for 91. We can try an absolute map instead to get that under control.
If you want to give Map 6 a shot, here are some boost targets you try that are suitable for 91...
Nah, Map 1 is safe on 91. Car will just run less timing advance since it knows its octane limited.
If you run E30, start by posting a Map 1 log here and we go from there. Just start by putting 2 gal of E in there.
Eh, I have never heard that before. When tuning these cars, octane and intake temps is most important for power.
22 psi was only when you finished the pull and the throttle closed. If you look at "Boost2" (manifold pressure) you can see that your engine only got 13.5 psi rather than the 22 psi...
Log looks fine! Don't recommend any higher maps than map 1 if you are only on 91 octane. Few timing corrections in the log. If you have ethanol around for mixing, there are more options.
IMO - Supra will hold value better since there are WAY fewer of them. If your 2023 Supra is an MT, absolutely will hold value better than any C8 on sale.
I really like the C8, but the AT and high volume production will ruin resale.
I put my name on the waitlist at my dealer the week that the MT was announced. I "ordered" an A91MT in October 2022, got allocated a Premium MT in January(first time seeing the VIN), got the car in early Feb. Smaller town dealer and I was first in queue.
