Yuuupp. If the car is ever serviced at Toyota, the ECU can/will be updated to whatever the latest version is at the time. The recall is not the only way that the firmware can be updated.

I'm not sure you know what this word means. Show me the PR, until there is a PR, it's a rumor--even if internally true, and decidedly not confirmed by Toyota.
I wish I had the balls to be as sure as you are. My 'Future Fuels' investments are equally split, so I'm not crazy worried about it, but if I could sack up, dump one or the other, and throw a million into a sure thing, I absolutely would.

Definitely true. The first thing the update(s) does(do) is make sure that every single sensor, voltage, harness, etc. is as designed. if it's not, it cannot continue.
