whamp whamp. I would expect nothing less, it is an LE I bought in 2019 so very early into production. But did you mean oilpump? its not the fuel pump I am concerned with.
So from what I've seen, there's a quick way to check what oilpump you have. This is based off owners in SoCal that have had failed pumps replaced with newer revised ones at the dealership. The pump seems to fail regardless of what oil weight your'e using, even olive oil.
Remove the oil fill...
Ok, thanks I will keep an eye on it. While I understand they did the switch over sometime early on, I have an LE so it is most likely a plastic version in there.
There is no specific model year that permanently or conclusively switched away from the plastic pump, and there's no evidence that oil weight has anything to do with the failure mode. There's also no evidence that oil weight doesn't cause the failure mode. The video's assertion is just...
I was watching the referenced youtube video from FCP Euro on the B58s. At ~16 min mark they talk about the issue with the plastic oilpump failure. The claim is that if you use the recommended oil 0w-20 you will not have a problem but if you use a thicker oil it will cause the plastic inside the...
Just looking at this thread again. Papadakis B58 drift engines use O rings blocks with copper head gaskets. Mind you they spin to 8900rpm and 1200 HP with a nitro shot.

If you log VANOS EX target and actual values and drive around at low boost conditions, you can verify that VANOS is working correctly and not a mechanical issue. If the issue is only VANOS Exhaust side, it's extremely likely it's not a mechanical VANOS issue but is related to fuel pump/pressure...
It went pretty smooth for the most part.
Issues that arise:
Disassembly:
- Cradle bolts and oilpump bolts are weak and will shred if the socket isn't perfectly on them.
-Buy all the bolts and tools ahead of time to reduce delays.
- This is a good opportunity to replace the plastic oilpump...
I picked up this 2022 Supra used about two years ago after getting tired of the 4-month dealership waitlist. Even though I paid a slight premium at 28k km, it’s been worth every cent. It’s now sitting at 112,000 km, serving as my high-speed daily driver. It survived a body-panel-only incident at...
Interesting. That's actually relatively similar to what the older LS1/6 engines would do to the fresh air port. Most would use a 1 or 2 psi check valve, and like you mention it wasn't perfect but it did cut down dramatically on oil going into the intake. I commonly use the little breather you...
Just got my car back from the dealer under my extended warranty. Oilpump is the main culprit. There's plenty of post on this issue now. Appararently the first year supra has a plastic part in the oilpump and the new part is has a slight redesign the prevent this.
Hello everyone, I’ve been dealing with this issue for about a month now. Just got my turbo replaced, oilpump replaced and also got a catless down pipe and armaspeed intake. I have a good amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust only at idle, I replaced the valve cover and turbo oil drain line...
Hello folks,
I am putting together a new build thread for my V2 time attack and track focused build to track progress and get helpful tips/pointers
I started tracking the car last season (our seasons here in Dubai are in the winters) and I really did enjoy the heck out of it. So I did more of...
Nice. It sounds like you're on the right path. I've had 3 different LP fuel setups and ended up with Radiums which doesn't look all dissimilar to yours but make sure you opt for a high-flow pump. My kit came with a single 255 which would be fine for your application but if you ever upgrade...
Thanks for the reply, I totally forgot to update that comment after doing a bit more research and contacting multiple shops which essentially answered most of the questions I asked.
I still ended up pre-ordering the New Pure900 2-port (RIP ship date is 3/27/2026). Every tuner and shop highly...
