Again, very simple fix. Increase the oil pressure. I've done this on over 30 cars at this point.

100% of the time, it works every time.
Thanks, does that car have to go back to the dyno or can the tables be adjusted and tune flashed?

yes, I asked what it could be, now i’m asking if there is a way to identify a failing vanos actuator/bolt before i go back to the tuner (and potentially dyno) to implement your suggestions. Tuners and dyno in Australia are very expensive. Just want to make sure everything is functioning correctly before that. Sorry
I am 99.99999% sure upping the oil pressure will fix it. No need for a dyno session. Just needs a new revision from your tuner. It's 3 tables to change. Should take less than a minute. What tuning platform are you using?

I am shocked your tuner doesn't know about this. (but also not)

Thank you, i’ll see him today. He has never seen it. He suggest 10w60 as he runs it on other track supras. But from responses i don’t feel
comfortable running it due to the tighter tolerances in the B58. On BM3

You might want to do some research on the difference between "tolerances" and "clearances". They are not the same thing.

If you log VANOS EX target and actual values and drive around at low boost conditions, you can verify that VANOS is working correctly and not a mechanical issue. If the issue is only VANOS Exhaust side, it's extremely likely it's not a mechanical VANOS issue but is related to fuel pump/pressure demands and can be solved by increasing oil pressure or decreasing fuel demand.
