Brian is at the top of my list but he is not taking on transmission builds until after TX2K. Assuming I get the trans out before then I may just send it to Pure as they claim to have really quick turnaround times currently.
It's time to pull my trans and ship it out for rebuild. Pure seems to be the most popular then Jack's and Brian @ Applied Torque Solutions. From what I can tell C and E hubs should be replaced with upgraded units. Of course increased clutch counts are standard. Pure claims to have a proprietary...
The Titan kit is a snow performance kit with the supra reservoir/pump bracket and throttle body adapter. You can fabricate a bracket, plumb the nozzle into your aftermarket charge pipe bung, and pickup the boost reference somewhere on the manifold. The Titan kit just makes things easier for...
I agree with @Thraxbert if you insist on running E50 on an upgraded turbo, but the simple and cheaper version is to drop back to E30 at max and stick with your stock fuel system and trans.
I would also caution you that I know of two CTS turbos that failed when they were first released. I have...
I don't recommend going past what the factory HPFP can handle. With the CTS turbo, catted DP, and EOS manifold, and water/meth my setup did 560whp on 92 octane @25-26 psi.
BTW there is a thread with a title something like: "101 Routes to big power" that has all the info you are looking for.
All you need is the turbo and a E30 tune, maybe a flex fuel sensor to make life easy. You will run out of HPFP on the upgraded turbo and E50. Plus the power you will make on a CTS and E50 is more than the trans can handle, I already ran that experiment for you.
I thought the stock turbo was fine on pump gas until I tried a bigger turbo (CTS). Even at the same boost level, on pump gas, on factory fuel system the big turbo setup was way faster than stock turbo (560 rwhp on 92 and meth). The big turbo also gave that increasing with RPM power curve I love...
Driving in the snow and ice recently got me thinking about VSC aka traction control potentially causing this issue. After a drive on super slick snow/ice where VSC is modulating torque significantly, try driving onto a surface with good grip. It takes VSC a little while to "learn" that there is...
Question for all the people experiencing this issue, does it happen with VSC off? Basically is the stability control system pulling torque then ramping it back to normal?
CTS turbo, Paul Johnson aka F80 Paul.
People don't like W/M systems because in the old days engine management systems were pretty basic. To get more power with W/M you add boost and maybe timing. If the W/M quit working you had more boost and maybe timing without the added octane and cooling...
Snow performance, 2 gph and 6 gph in charge pipe, 6psi-24psi, mostly ethanol with some methanol, no water. This setup is for supplying more octane to reduce timing corrections on 92 pump gas 27 psi tune.
