Love the overall size and shape and looks so much better with some proper sized wheels!
And the camoflage hiding the rear quarter triangular window changes the whole shape and look of the car. Prototype will look so much better once it's exposed.
The FT-1 Concept was a double edged sword for Toyota. It got so much attention back on the Supra name after many years hiatus, but on the other hand it set such high expectations that's hard for any production car to meet.
I don't agree with #8. I'd bet that it comes with a manual transmission. Manual take rate on the FR-S shows that there's plenty of Toyota sports car enthusiasts who would choose manual and there should be a business case for it.
3700 pounds is really quite heavy. But all that engineering it has probably makes it feel much lighter. Plus it does 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and quarter mile in 10.8 sec. That's definitely supercar territory in terms of performance.
And that's an absolute crying shame that neither the FR-S nor the BRZ has received a more potent version. To give it such a great chassis and driving dynamics but then don't even give people who want it the option of a higher powered version is just shooting yourself in the foot. And I bet it's...
I see the resemblance a bit between the FT1 and Mirai's tail light area, but Toyota better not give the FT1 the full downward "L" lights from the Mirai. It's one thing to have the lights + vent area be an L shape, but once you make the whole tail light an L it becomes unattractive -- like on the...
This is one of my favorite videos of the GT4 so far. I test drove Cayman S before and always though acceleration and sound were a little lacking, but this sounds and looks like it's on another level!
That's definitely unconventional by BMW standards. BMW usually replaces their models after 6-7 years at the most. The current Z4 been out since 2009, so it's due to be replaced basically now. Sounds like they'll put off the replacement in order to use the new joint platform.
Yea next big shows are NY in April and Frankfurt in September. Before Frankfurt the other possibilities are Concorso (May) as Supra93 mentioned, but also
Pebble Beach Concorso in August. BMW has revealed cars at Pebble Beach before also.
It definitely looks like a cheapman's version of the FT-1, down to the color. FT-1 design is much better of course.
Front end reminds me of the 360 Modena
x2 love how for ex. the Cayman GT4 will get plenty of parts from the 911 GT3
Really wondering if there will be a car to slot under the 86 and when it'll come. Toyota needs to steal some Miata sales.
I would hope that the front ends up more distinctive than that. Hardly resembles the FT-1 front styling except for the headlight shape.
Targa form looks good though.
I may not use the backseats for much else than storage and occasionally having a buddy back there but I also don't want to pay more for insurance just because I happen to not have them.
Yea I think those don't account for dry weights and different engines and convertible vs. hard top etc. What that does show you is how light a car back then was without all that extra junk which we were lucky enough to pick and choose whether to add to our orders. Now you get a few packages and...
These 2.x liter engine rumors better be false. Sounds more proper for the rumored sub-FRS sports car than the Supra, which should have a properly lineup leading motor. Not something barely bigger than the 2.0L 4 cyl FRS engine
Wowo never seen these before. those are the most beautiful photo I've seen of the gray FT1 concept! :spaz:
Everytime I see gorgeous pix of the car it makes me wish it wouldn't be another couple years until you can even buy one.
Guess they were afraid to mess with the success of the current Camaro design. But that's playing it for extremely safe. The underpinnings and performance better improve or they'll basically be selling the same car as the last few years.
