Hey all, so just an update:
£1750 later, new oil pump fitted and...... I can measure oil again! ?
BUT! I have since taken apart my old pump and although it is the old version with the plastic housing... it's not broken in any way that I can see. I've attached pics below:
So yea... really...
Yes exactly, there have already been examples of this happening in the UK. Ricky from Living Life Fast had his G82 M4 finance cancelled and was sent a bill for £80,000 due to BMW finding out about him modifying the car due to videos he put on his youtube.
They don't do that in the US?
Pretty sure most car companies can terminate your finance agreement if they find out you have modified the car when it doesn't yet belong to you officially until the term is fully paid.
As I said I'm tuned so my warranty won't be useable. My main concern is paying out all this money to find I have the upgraded part already. US and EU cars aren't the same so it's a possibility that we have the upgraded part over here as it was already in use on the Z4's over here in 2019/20...
So this is pretty hilarious but I got quoted £1350 from Toyota for the Oil Pump (pn 15100-WAA03). So I called BMW and asked the price on their Oil Pump (pn 11419895359) and they quoted me £419.
That's less than a third of the price!
Yea good point. If anyone wants to do a bimmerlink log while the car is running the check so I can compare I'd be very grateful!
But essentially the oil pressure doesn't go above 3.4 bar during the log and seems to remain stable until 18% when it goes back to the previous screen.
When driving...
Yep as I said I've done all this and it's in line with a perfectly good oil pump.
My cars under warranty but I'm tuned so it's not gonna work out for me I'll have to get any work done by an indie garage.
Totally understand but it would suck if I paid all that money for parts and install just to find out i already have that updated part. Are there any other symptoms or ways I can diagnose this further?
Appreciate the help.
They said if there was an old part it would have been displayed on their system. Others have also said EU cars already have the updated pump.
Also - my oil pressure doesn't really go up while doing the measuring test which others said is a tell tale sign of an oil pump starting to fail. It...
Hi,
I have a EU spec 2020 a90 Supra with a build date of 2019 and noticed recently that I can't measure my oil. It gets to 18% and then jumps back to the previous screen where it says Oil level OK but no bar on the right.
I've tried everything from waiting 30 mins, flat surface, letting it...
