Makes sense. They were testing the current GR86 with the yaris engine. I'd prefer no hybrid to not have to worry about the battery and its longevity. But that power level means the Supra must be getting more powerful as well.
I previously owned a BRZ and was ready for an upgrade. Always loved the Supra as a kid, so the nameplate definitely played to me. Car is a good value at MSRP, but I got mine $9k below MSRP in 2020, so it was a no brainer at that point.
Give it some time. Wait until after the break in period to worry. Also, I see you're in Michigan. The cold weather makes manuals pretty clunky for a few miles. Stop and go doesn't help transmissions warm up compared to miles of continuous rotation. See if you have the same issue in the spring on...
Mine did that when it was new, but eventually went away after some time. I think it just needed to break in and the ECU needed to learn. I used to drive it exclusively in manual mode for that reason, but now it went away.
