Honest question. When is it time to buy a new battery? Currently 30K miles on an 2021 and it starts perfectly at the moment. I’m trying to understand the benefits from replacing the stock one.

Great question! If your current battery is starting perfectly and showing no signs of decline, you’re likely in good shape for now. Most stock batteries tend to last around 3-5 years under normal conditions, so at 30K miles on a 2021, you're approaching that window where performance can start to decline depending on factors like climate, usage, and how often the vehicle sits idle.

The benefits of upgrading to a lithium battery like ours are significant even before your stock battery fails. With Powertex, these are some of the benefits you'll get:

  • Weight Savings: Our batteries are much lighter, which can improve overall performance, especially in a sporty car (30+ pounds!).
  • Longer Lifespan: Lithium batteries last 2-3 times longer than traditional lead-acid ones, meaning you won’t have to think about replacing it for many years.
  • Advanced Features: All of our batteries include a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) and Bluetooth monitoring to track performance in real time.
  • Better Starting Power: Lithium batteries provide more consistent power, which is especially useful in cold or hot climates.
  • Built-In Jump-Start Feature: If your battery ever gets too low, our batteries can jump-start themselves, eliminating the need for jumper cables or waiting for roadside assistance.
It might not be an immediate need, but upgrading now (while the sale is on!) gives you peace of mind and the benefits of a high-performance battery ahead of time. If you’re unsure, feel free to share more about how you use your car—I’m happy to help you decide!

also have 2021 with 12,000 miles and battery seems fine. Only struggle maybe 5 time to start likely from sitting for 2 weeks with dash am park mode. Try to use BimmerLink to test the battery. Mine went from 50% down to 30% quickly but still works. With battery in hatchback with no key hole and H9 battery a little hard to find off the shelf I decided to change now when it works rather when it’s dead and a pita. I went with AMG battery instead of Lifepo4 to save cost, but with current discount it helps to tip the scale to these batteries if I had to do it over.

I just replaced mine last month after getting a battery aging code. I didn't actually even get a code until after it wouldn't start one day and had to be jumped. My 2020 is at 60K miles for reference. Immediately I noticed the crank was stronger and faster that it had been for a long time.
