I often drive my 2023 Supra in adaptive cruise control and have noticed an annoying sound that comes from under the hood when the car comes to a complete stop autonomously in adaptive cruise mode. It occurs about 50% of the time, and when the sound begins, it continues on each successive autonomous stop until I turn the car off. It sounds like a short-to-long "moaning" sound, as if a spring or hydraulic system is resetting after coming to a complete stop. It is very noticeable during the car ride. Has anyone in this community experienced this with the MKV generation Supra?

I live in a rural area where roads are 55+ mph and drive into the city is all highway so I use adaptive cruise control all the time. I have never heard any strange noises when using the system or coming to a stop, however I rarely let the car stop on it's own, I usually manually hit the brake when it's time to stop. The few times I have let it stop the car autonomously, I have not noticed any sounds.

Also when using it on rural roads, if a car is in front of me and it turns off onto a side road, the car freaks out and slams on the brakes even when the turning car has completed it's turn and is driving away, and in this scenario I have not heard any sounds/noises either.

It's moaning about having to do the drivers work for him ;)

Thank you, itzTang.
You don’t turn it off before coming to a complete stop?!? Iā€˜ve never tried that, or allowed it to, I should say. Does it come back on when the traffic starts moving? Pretty cool. I didn’t know it could do that. I always tap the brake or hit the off button when traffic gets heavier. And I’ve only ever used it going over 55 mph & again, not in heavily congested areas where we could go slower than that.

Interesting….

It does come to a stop and take off again. I haven't used it extensively because I'm quite paranoid about these systems, especially without LIDAR assistance, but it does work.

No you let it do it itself lol so you don’t have to turn it on and off. Haven’t had someone cut me off while it’s on tho so not sure how hard it’ll slam the brake if they do ?

Yeah, it’s all new to me. The old cruise control you had to shut off or tap the brakes. I still don’t trust it changing gears. Guess Iā€˜ll have something fun to try next time I drive to Mihammy ? ?
