I’ve had the Powerneedy catted downpipe on my car for a bit over 500 miles without any issues but tonight as I was driving at regular speed a check engine light came up

I got home. Plugged in my OBD2 reader and turns out I got code P0420. What’s also annoying is that I can’t erase the code with device.

This is pretty disappointing considering I went catted just so I could drive without a CEL without having to get a tune.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any help at least clearing the code?

Also: my car is stock

Maybe try another scan tool to clear with. I did get a code with a catted dp but it was a cheaper brand. I’d reach out to powerneedy to see if they have any suggestions

You have to put the car in diagnostic mode to clear codes. Get in your car, with your foot off the brake hit the ignition button three times as quick as you can. The gauges will cycle, and you will get a chime. Read codes, then reset. Press ignition again to leave diagnostic mode.

When I say as fast as you can, I literally mean you have to taptaptap with your pointer finger. Slow down at all and it will just go into the normal accessory power mode.

Thank you very much sir! That allowed me to clear the CEL. Although I still have to take the car back to stock for engine issue. I think I’ll keep the downpipe

P0420 can happen on any stock car. If it just happens to not get up to temp or you spend a lot of time at low load/idle etc it can come on.

id log the event and if it happens again or becomes consistent, contact PN. $.02
