Hi folks, I currently live in San Francisco and am considering moving to Canada and deciding between Vancouver or Toronto. I'm leaning towards Vancouver since based on my understanding Toronto's snow season is much longer. But I don't know about road condition/traffic condition/cop attitude, etc so would like to hear from you locals. Let's only talk about cars here.

Both have equal pros cons. Van is "smaller" closer to nature and mountains. Toronto is like a mini new york. Lots of people traffic blows. Both cost a ton to plate a and insure a car.

My insurance is 1k / year, I'm an hour northwest of Toronto. The winter season here blows, it will definitely be better in BC. You might even be able to daily it year round weather permitting. I wouldn't even attempt driving the Supra in winter in Toronto.

Not sure, I didn't ask questions lol. I heard a few folks say their insurance was crazy cheap with the Supra. It also probably helps that I'm almost 40 and live in a small country town.

Canada's west coast in beautiful. That would be my first choice, but visit lots of areas before settling in.

Toronto and within an hour of its centre is a congested mess. I lived there for 10 years. It's friendly to new comers but I was super happy to move back west when I was given the chance with my work. Further out from Toronto gets much nicer. Kingston is an awesome small city. Lake country north and north east of Toronto is really nice in the summer but dead in the wintertime.

1+ for Vancouver Island over Vancouver simply because its less crowded. The BC interior is really nice as well. Kelowna is a great small city in the mountains with excellent winter skiing, hot summers with lots of boating on the lakes, and the entire area is surrounded by vineyards. I'd look in Victoria or Nanaimo first, Vancouver second, and Kelowna third. I'd also consider Calgary before Toronto having lived in both cities. Its close to great skiing, and is a cross between Denver and Houston as far as Canadian cities go.

Thanks for the advice. I grew up in the city so I'm very used to the crowd. I guess I'll just start from Vancouver and explore the surrounding.

Both are way better than SF but BC for car stuff. Toronto is better to make money in and mess around.

In what way? Because law wise I don't think Vancouver is much different.
yeah Vancouver might become SF in like 10 years but it's not as bad now. At least your window won't get smashed just parking outside. Lots of business are moving out of SF too, and asian food in SF is trash comparing to Vancouver.
