Custom MST Intake Cover

Thought about buying MST’s clear cover but decided that for $15 in Lexan I could fabricate one that looked more finished. Maybe a little built vs. bought satisfaction too. How did I do?

If anybody wants to ship me their cover I will mod it. I could make the cutout different shapes…a diamond, perhaps a star or a heart, a cock n balls for you 2.0 owners. Can also smoke the lexan or attach it with custom hardware instead of rivets.

edit: I just had the idea for a coffin shaped cutout and I’m kicking myself now. Would have added just the right amount of gloom and macabre that this engine bay so desperately needs.

I think it came out good for the price, and the idea of custom cut outs is cool.

For a “full” cutout like this, my only thought would be to see what it’d look like if all the edges (except the thicker MST side) were the same thickness.

Thanks, I did measure and cut the sides as evenly as possible. The problem is the sides adjacent to the thicker mst side are rounded and wonky. I’m not sure how I could have cut them more evenly, but I get what you’re saying.

I guess I could have just followed the perimeter contour all the way around instead of going for straight lines. I’ve got sheet aluminum laying around, might make a couple more to experiment and powdercoat them if I like them.

@ope_sry that looks great! I always though the clear cover from MST looked a bit "off", but I couldn't put my finger on it. The black borders gives your cover some more visual weight.

I'm still waiting for my MST V2 to ship, but I may need to do something similar in the future if I'm brave enough to put my bench tools to use LOL
