Differential ground strap

Ok this is probably a stupid question, and I already googled, and feel more stupid after reading...why does our rear differential have a ground to frame?

It's electromechanical diff that has an electric motor on it to lock.. Can only speculate that they're grounding the e-motor.. Dunno for sure.
