Does an air intake(Example MST V2) need an aftermarket heat shield to work right?

My friend says the MST intake needs a heat shield to work. So is there no point of me buying an intake for this car then? I have a 21 3.0 for info.

You will get more heat into the intake without a heatshield, which in turn, will yield you less power overall. The stock airbox has a heatshield to mitigate this.

If you are buying an aftermarket intake, you are doing it for noise. The OEM one is very good.

K&N filter = 90 bux + Burger Intake Muffler = 40 bux + Dinan Turbo Intake Tube = 140.

Boom, you have an MST for half the price and better performing.
