At least they didn’t have DTS back then. If they did, it’d likely be banned content today ?
If social media existed back then, there'd be riots outside the paddock lol. Radio's weren't broadcast, after a crash they just went at it. Think it was Nelson Piquet who tried to beat up another driver after a crash. Senna punched Irvine, Schumacher tried to kick Coulthard's ass, and so on.

But Max is worse ?

Idiots who think they know something over here lol!

I thought Max was so good he could beat everyone in a shitbox?
There is no denying that Max is a very talented driver, but I think the development of his car hasn't been great enough to offset how far other teams have advanced.

Max can't beat everyone with an uncompetitive car, that's not how the sport works. The driver is definitely key, but so is the car and the team around it. We've seen over the past year a lot of turmoil around RB, the two drivers never really liked each other, and now Newey has left for greener pastures. So while I certainly did not expect this level of collapse to happen so quickly, it certainly has happened and I'm not sure if they'll be able to do much to correct this imbalance before the season is over.

For someone who likes to talk down on “DTS fans”, you are conveniently omitting why these drivers had these reactions off track - the stakes were much higher in the event of a crash. If Max had raced against any of these driver the way he does in the current era (forcing drivers off track, moving under braking, etc.) there’s no doubt virtually any driver in the paddock would have put him in his place.

Crazy how the narrative from Verstappen fans has shifted from “he can beat anyone in any car” when he was dominant to “red bull has been outdeveloped” the moment he starts losing. Lol

Lmao. So you're new to this. You DO have to be an ass to win, or be in a car faster than anyone else and have a shit teammate.
ALL the greatest drivers were assholes.
Senna, punched another driver, not to mention crashing out Prost to win.
Prost, same.
Mansell, unbelievable asshole.
Schumacher, we all know the stories.
Vettel, multi-21 and so on.
Hamilton, crashed out so many people on purpose, I lost count.

Alonso was actually NOT one, I can't remember him and Schumacher ever coming together.

People like giving Max a hard time, but it all comes from DTS "knowledge". Max is mild compared to what we've seen in the past. James Hunt is another. Everyone praises him, yet he only won because of Lauda's accident. All a bunch of (often British) hypocrits.

This season is shaping up to be a great one, but EVERYONE knows, that if Max's car was equal to the McLaren, Lando would be nowhere. And Piastri is the next great on the grid, and Lando knows it. And so does McLaren.

All the great racers have an edge. We've brought that up before here, all great racers have it, the worse was probably A.J. Foyt. It looks to me that Lando just lacks that sharp edge that the other greats have.

A shitbox or a car that's within regulations? ;)
Looking back at qualification and race results, it's only the post-summer break Mclaren (Zandvoort and Monza) that's been driving off into the distance. Weird how Red Bull fans classify the car a shitbox if it isn't winning by at least 15 seconds in the race and 3/10s clear in quali and actually has to work for a win/pole.

Even in Spa, Lando couldn't get past on fresher tires for at least 10 laps against a "shitbox".

As much as Red Bull say they aren't impacted by the asymmetric braking ban, the recent twitchiness and unsettled nature of the car in Monza qualifying and a little bit in Zandvoort seems to suggest otherwise.

The overall field is tightening up between the top 4. The front wings of Mercedes and Mclaren have been key to improved aero efficiency and RedBull is so lost in their 'old' wind tunnel correlation that they are running the oldest floor they made for the RB20 in an effort to reduce the 'imbalance' Horner keeps saying they suffer from.
No driver, drives around a car's issues when the aero balance is utterly, fundamentally flawed as MaxBull is finding out. Between aero balance and the suspension being so stiff that kerbs unsettle it further, RedBull are in a spiral and might not have a fix until Austin according to the dilapidated Marko lol.

When I think: “if I could drive like someone?”, I naturally think of Max. Not because of his personality on or off track, just because he’s fun as shit to watch. His control is insane! My dumb 2 cents.

And while I can’t speak for some fans (like my wife - she’d just a diehard Max fan no matter what), it’s great watching a team get the most out of the car and driver. When they don’t, like Mercedes 2022 porpoising, it sucks. I’m loving it right now for McLaren and even Ferrari lately. It makes a world of a difference on track when you trust what the car is doing. The way Max, Lewis and others (at times) consistently put those cars on edge, without upsetting the car, anywhere on track, is astounding.

As for the current drivers championship, what a great opportunity for McLaren & Norris. I just wish Lando could be more consistent or perhaps even a bit more cutthroat ? Hence why leadership needs to take that (red) bull by the horns and throw out “Papaya rules” ? How often do these opportunities come around? Shouldn’t every point matter at this stage of the game?

Papaya rules just means, the team comes first, don't take each other out. For the team it doesn't matter who finishes 2nd, and who 3rd. The points for the team stay the same.
As far as team orders, I have a feeling Piastri has a clause in his contract that they can't order him to let Norris by.

It really does seem that way. They probably weren’t thinking Oscar could/would work his way up so quickly to Lando’s level. Guess there could be worse problems to have ?

I guess Norris won’t screw up a front row start from 17th. Good job Charles and Oscar for their qualifying performance

Verstappen rues bouncing Red Bull that derailed Azerbaijan qualifying
Verstappen says his car's set-up took a turn for the worse heading into Baku qualifying

One of the best races of the season so far. So much to watch and so much defending and passing. I think the world is going to fall in love with Oscar, just so consistent, calm, and fair racing. How can you not love the guy!

Lets his driving do the talking. A lesson most other drivers need to emulate. The team owes zero to Norris after today. Shup and drive.

Wow Checo just handed the constructor's championship to McLaren and this was a good race weekend for him.
