One good qualifying lap due to a tow from his teammate, doesn’t make one a match for Max.

Honestly the only driver I think could maybe even have a chance to run along side Max would be Lando in a RB. RB has built a car that’s phenomena, but it’s proven only Max can drive it. Drop Lewis, or Charles in that car and I don’t think they would beat Max day in day out.

Bit of a strange qualifying. Makes me sad to see Lando so far back on the grid, but that’s what happens when you don’t put a banker lap in earlier in the session.

Amazing how both Ferrari drives put down their fastest laps early and no one else could match, that’s Max stuff right there. I feel like both will be in a dog fight for a podium with the RBs a much better race pace car.

I was also really surprised that Merc wasn’t a bit higher, they seemed to have the pace but maybe they just couldn’t get the timing right like Ferrari.

Lastly, how can you not smile seeing Danial Ric on the second row. Can his team please match strategy and not do anything funky so that he can get his first points of the season.

Both Ferrari guys were hilarious after those flying laps. Dude, how did we do that. Ummmmmmm, I dunno but we’ll take it! I can’t remember which one said it like that but loved the honesty. We definitely couldn’t repeat it. So yeah, lap after lap, Max will eventually reel them all in, like that big tuna show. Unless he gets the Mexican flu like the rest of them are getting or technical failure.

Makes you wonder if Lando is thinking the same thing we are. He might just warm up to Christian nicely in that other seat. RB sure is cozy with him.

Lando is the wrong choice. My money would be on Oscar every time. That kid is developing really nicely. It will be really interesting to see how Lando will react next season, if Oscar's performance will push him to new heights, or if Oscar will flat out dominate. But I feel like Lando has hit a plateau, and Oscar is right up there with him. Once Oscar gets better with the tires, he'll be the one to watch to take the fight to Max.

Fun race. Lando is slowly becoming one of my faves. That dude can drive. Today was a great display on his part. I'd REALLY like to see him in a Red Bull car. They would kill it. If Checo can be 2nd in points, imagine Norris.....
I like seeing Hamilton do well. Great driver... didn't deserve all those low finishes he's been getting.
Poor Checo. He just can't seem to perform well under pressure. His degradation is snow balling. I feel for the guy. He's so nice.. but I think that's his problem; he doesn't have the killer instinct that he needs.
Max.. well, Max is still being Max. Maybe someone will have an answer next year. Until then, go Verstappen!

Great race by Lewis and my boy Lando. Lewis kinda shocked me... I kept feeling like he was a stop behind and would somehow drop back behind Leclerc. Seems like some drivers had mediocre performances and a couple had stand out days.

He needs to suppress his instincts imo. It drove him right into Charles ?
Same with Yuki ? - It’s not a personality contest. So I’d say they both need time off to “reflect”
And Lance… poor Lance. Tell his dad to let that kid go off and do anything else. Those 3, no self control when they need it the most. Opposite of Max, Lewis, & Lando’s nerves of steel, forget it, move on to the next apex.

Ricardo, wow. Maybe he could fill that 2nd RB seat until they get an Oscar or Lando in there. Hell, even a Charles would be fantastic. I’d be looking at crash results and put that guy in that 2nd RB seat. Save money and much easier race planning from a strategy standpoint.

It's no secret that Helmut Marko wants to hire Lando.

At this point, it seems better for Lando to stay put. No need to subject him to the Verstappen-teammate curse. ?

And by curse, I mean that the RB car is nowhere near as strong as people think, and Max is doing the heavy lifting. Makes any teammate he has look like an amateur.

You could be right and another good reason why Danny Ric left when he did. I think Max’s last race (the one he was booed at) was his best. Brakes were really off and he still drove the shit out of it, with Lewis Hamilton chasing down his ass. Yeah….. I bet you’re right.

Hopefully there other drivers out there that truly believe they are a gift from the track gods (George Russell *cough cough*) who might find it inviting. Don’t know how Christian Horner does it. That guys has to be chewing thru Tums all day long or has Valium running through his veins. Lot of pressure keeping all those parts (team Red Bull) working so well together.

In a lot of ways I think Checo got caught up in the moment. He started 5th but everyone in front of him besides Max had a poor start and he saw an opening. Maybe he thought that Charles would back out but that never happened. There is no other race where the fans at the race are as passionate about one driver than the Mexico GP and Checo. Obviously this was his fault and there will always be a "what could have been" moment. He easily could have backed out a bit and been 3rd, likely taking over second place when DRS became enabled. I don't think he would have caught Max, but a podium at this race would have really done wonders.

Lewis and the team did a great job with their strategy and I was really expecting the mediums to drop off a cliff at some point but that never seemed to materialize. I was especially worried about Lando as he was racing especially hard on those mediums.

Speaking of Lando, a very very unlucky weekend. First the yellow flag in qualifying taking him out, then the restart of the race/red flag didn't do him any favors. But unlike someone like Yuki, Checo, etc, he just took it in stride and made the best of the situation. How can anyone not like how this kid races and approaches the sport. If he can get a team and car that is championship level, he will be a champion someday. Do I think that's at RB, well it would be right now, but next year, the year after, who knows. He's committed to McLaren and they certainly are doing a lot to appease him with the upgrades and having a driver next to him that pushes him.

Last thing that I'll say, Danny Ric, the Honey Badger, so very happy for him. That smile was so missed at the beginning of the season (and really the last year). He's a great guy and I hope he can stick around and have some success before he ages out of the sport.
