Agree with both of ya’s! Was talking to someone at work you wouldn’t think was into F1 who said the same thing. Norris and Oscar seem like really nice guys, McLaren is incredibly quick, but both are so boring!!!! Max fighting that RB on a knifes edge is way more exciting. Seeing how close Yuki can get to Max or if Mercedes (and Ferrari for that matter) can do anything to catch up is about as exciting as it’s gong to get this season. Unless they can dial Max’s car in just a pinch more or he can drive some more miracle races. Maybe Zach could add a 3rd driver and see how they all do šŸ‘¹

And Spa… to see one of my fav tracks ruined by who knows what (DRS or dry?) was a shame. It was like watching a larger Monaco šŸ˜ž. Besides Oscarā€˜s bold move in the beginning - major snooze fest. I literally got up & went to bed (worked all day - it wasn’t worth it).
Now you know how everybody else felt the last couple of years when Max had a car that allowed him to just run away from everybody! BORING!

While I too am a McLaren fan I also see how less entertaining this season has been, at least to this point. It's somewhat strange because it's definitely not like the season where Max and RB won almost everything, as others have won races this season. I just think now that we are getting towards the end of these regulations, the cars are so much closer in performance with each other that more gimmicks are needed to add some excitement, like mandatory double pit stops or off setting the tires that are available (like this past race).

That's not say that all the cars are the same performance wise, certainly not the case at all, McLaren definitely seems to have a car that does well at almost all the tracks while others seem very specific on when and where they'll perform well. I think that has played a lot in why McLaren have such a big lead in the constructors championship.

My hope is that in this second half we get A LOT more on track battles between Lando and Oscar for the lead in a very close back and forth drivers championship battle.

Next season should be a lot better I think with a bigger difference between cars performance on the track and some more unpredictability in the end results.

I actually wouldn't be completely against F1 adopting some of what Formula E got right this season to make it much more exciting. They offer this boost that drivers can activate during the race that gives the driver not only more power but 4WD, which I think is key because it impacts the cars ability to get traction out of a corner and make a pass much much easier it seems than any DRS. That would be an interesting change in F1 I think and could actually take DRS out altogether then. I much prefer it to the Indy "push to pass" setup they have.

2023 was also boring at the front, but there was still proper competition for 2nd place, and once McLaren fixed their car that season, they were also really competitive.

This year, it seems like the entire field has a somewhat defined order to it in terms of race pace and the only competition is about not finishing last.

Just watched it, while I know it's sponsored by Ford and of course they are going to rave about that Mustang, it was still a fun video to watch.

Something that I enjoyed that would be cool to see in an F1 race is the open face helmet. Now I know it'll never happen for safety reasons, but how fun would it be to see facial expressions on the race track. Max typically looked like he was observant but not overly excited during his time in that Mustang, cracking a smile here and there but mostly because of conversation.

I disagree. It was exciting for different reasons. When a driver like Max gets a car like that, and everything aligns, you get to see what's possible. Max did things, and broke records that weren't broken for 40 years! And he had that kind of car for exactly ONE season. And look what he did with it.

In comparison, McLaren has the exact kind of advantage this season, and are still losing races and sprints to RedBull, Ferrari and Mercedes.

Hate to break it to you, but apart from the races where Max broke the consecutive race win streak and Singapore where the streak ended, everyone who isn't a diehard Max/RB fan was watching for things like Mercedes vs Ferrari for 2nd place, McLaren after their mid-season update which fixed the car, Alonso enjoying the Aston -- basically everything NOT related to Max driving off into the sunset in Newey's RB19 rocket.

Race coverage demonstrates this -- Max was covered for the race start, and then for 5 seconds when he was passing the finish line. The rest of the time we were seeing the more interesting events going on further back.

That has always been the case. When Mercedes disappeared into the sunset during their 7 years of dominance it was the same. You saw them at the start, and the finish. Same with RedBull before that, and Ferrari before that.

I liked it for that too 😜

Dude is such a freak on a leash. Chris Harris (I believe that’s his name) was fun to watch. Like Johnny said. That dude can drive! And even he was impressed. I don’t think it was for show. I also think Alex Albon and others interviewed are telling the truth that Max is able to take a car further & get a little bit more than everyone else. Hence the added excitement seeing what he can do and what new records can be broken, with him in an equal (to teammates) or superior car (to others).

Max acts likes he’s going to stay with RB next season. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. But until then, if Max is in the race, they all are more interesting, imo, because anything is possible. And I think the other drivers (and teams) know that as well.

Yup exactly. The fact he took a GT3 car out for the first time and broke the lap record within 5 laps tells you all you need to know.

There are guys that get faster because of the car,
And there are guys that make the car faster.
Senna, Schumacher, Max, are the only 3 I can think of that I've seen that could do that. The rest are all in the other category.

Max fans will never understand this, don't waste your time trying to explain it.

Coming from a guy that doesn't understand anything about F1.... Your opinions are as stupid as your car.

Edit:
I had to laugh when I saw this just now.

Listen to the Champ Skidmark! 🤣

You Max lovers are so full of it. I think most fans find Max actually quite boring to watch. Never any passing battles back when he ran away with races. Yes it was the same with Lewis & Sebastian & Michael! I find Lando and Oscar fighting for the driver championship WAY more exciting.

Quite boring to watch 🤣 he literally has the best races to his name. He's won from more starting positions than any other driver. Had to fight every inch of the way to get his 4th title. Remember the start of 2022? When Ferrari had the best car? How hard Charles and Max fought every single race? Charles had to push so hard he binned it in France into the barrier.
Brazil 2024. Lando starting from pole, Max 17th, and all he was worried about was what Max was doing because he knows he was coming for him, and he did. One of the, if not the best race ever.

Boring to watch 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah yeah, "back when he ran away with races". If the McLaren boys were a little better, they'd do that too in that rocketship. Max would be gone in that thing. You'd never see him.
And I wouldn't call what they're doing fighting. They started to in Canada, and got promptly recalled like good little lapdogs. THEY are boring.
