More consistency with the FIA...gee, we've only been asking for that for how long...like 40+ years. Can't expect that to get any better. In fact, I actually think this is where maybe AI could be used. Feed it the rules, give it all the videos and telemetry, and allow it to make the decisions. But then it'd be a lot harder for the FIA to "massage" the outcomes of races.

They've had this issue all year. Annoying to see how they got something so fundamentally wrong and need to compromise practically every single race to mitigate it. If Kimi had better form, Ferrari would easily be in 3rd in the constructors.
Yeah exactly. It's what got them disqualified in China after all.

With just the telemetry, it could do the math on contested corners and determine if someone can make a corner, ran another driver off, etc., in a pretty quick manner. All of it is physics -- the data is there and we should have values for constants like coefficients of friction. You could even program in tolerances to adjust for reaction times.

But yeah, it does remove the FIA's ability to influence narratives.

Probably late to this party but just found the F1 channel on Amazon Prime. The ā€˜95 Belgian Grand Prix is soooooo much more enjoyable to listen to while washing the car than any current race.

I know it's such an unpopular opinion, but I'd do the V6 hybrid era of sound over the old wailing annoying V10/V8 sound. I love listening to them for a moment, then it's just an annoying wail I can't get over... I know I know I'm the only one. but I can't watch pre v6 era F1 races very long before that sound starts annoying me. Maybe being there in person would be much better, but on TV it annoys me and gets old quick.

It is better in person. You FEEL them come by in your bones. It's hard to describe.
The V-10 era was Mƶtorhead.
The V-8 era was Metallica.
The V-6 era is Nickelback....
Still rock music, but..... less.
If they can make them come back with synthetic fuels, I say do it. I can't wait.

The V-12 era was Rammstein.

I saw the V12s run when Mario Andretti won the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen back in 1972. I wish I could say I remember it well, but I was 22 at the time and I was with a group of friends doing a road trip from Detroit and there was a lot of mood altering substances being used!

NOW YOU'RE TALKING!! 20 26B's ripping down a track, holy crap that would be epic.
Holy šŸ’© šŸ’© šŸ’© So badass!!!!
Reminds me of some old Tom Cruise War of the Worlds movie. Guys are just standing around waiting to be eaten up by something out there, where they clearly should be heading for the hills. Wonder if they can hear today?!? No earplugs or headphones 😳

Wow Brett!! Mega sad… I gotta say my RX8 with a straight pipe was the loudest car I’ve ever owned. I couldn’t imagine that poor guy. I love the design of that engine and how high it could rev šŸ˜. A friend raced one professionally and that thing was so badass rip roaring loud. He can still hear today though. Wore foam earplugs and I still do, even in the Zupra. It made an impression on me. That’s for sure!
