HKS HAS coil bind creaking noise

Had my springs installed and getting a creaking noise, primarily from the passenger side front when turning the wheel. Happens at low speeds and when not moving. Going over bumps or inclines causes creaks as well.

took it back to the shop and they looked it over but eventually said they couldn’t find anything wrong and I might just have to live with it. Not sure if I believe that, but has anyone else solved this issue?

Mine has been like that since the installation. It is the thrust bearing that is just below the front strut top hat. The part that bothers me the most is buying the whole hat to get the plastic bearing, I have seen this bearing being sold individually. P/N for Toyota Assembly: 48609-WAA01

Found the bearing itself! Febi P/N: 176255. Febi is the manufacturer for OEMs in Germany. The downside is that you need to order from EU.

Did swapping to aftermarket top hats fix this for you?

Mine has this same issue currently, on camber plates and stock springs.

Pomales is correct at least for my case, I can see the bearing getting caught up and then releasing with a creak/clunk when I have the car up in the air, with the wheel off and turning the steering wheel. I sprayed some lubricant in it and it stopped clunking for about a day or so while I wait for my new one to arrive.

You switched to camber plates and still have the issue? Do your plates use the factory bearing? If so, which ones are they?

I had this for a little while backing out of my drive way. Went away after everything settled and a track day.

Solved this for my case. Lifted the car up and noticed the silencer for the front passenger had come off slightly. Pushed it back on and haven’t heard any noises since. Sometimes it’s the little things

My car doesn't have the thunking, but I have the creak at 9 seconds. I jacked up the car and took the wheels off.

When turning the Hub back and forth by hand,
initially thought it was due to misaligned top hat bearings, but those were fine. No noise coming from up there, and there was no radial or axial play throughout the range of motion.

in my case the creaking noise was coming from the inner tie rod/steering rack area. But grabbing the outer tie rod directly and yanking, I couldn't make any noise.

nope still there. i crawled under the car during my last oil change and turned the wheels side to side with my feet. definitely coming from the rack area.

But reading about bmw steering rack and lower spindles issues, mine doesn't have a characteristic dead spot or any steering wheel feedback, it's purely sound.

Update since I hate when ppl don’t update after fixing something.

I added additional silencers above the hks ones. The hks ones are in the right spot according to the manual, but more silencers fixed the issue for me. 2 weeks and no noise so far
