What are you looking to get done? If it's just a simple oil change they shouldn't care. As a general rule of thumb you stop going to dealerships once you start modding.

It’s not illegal over here but they can still loose your car keys... Happened to another guy in front of me. Made me think, please just find my keys and I promise never to come back ?. They didn’t have the “Supra” tech anyways, got their days mixed up, and admitted with SPL parts they couldn’t (or wouldn’t) do an alignment. I made it out unscathed ? and never been back since.

You should have tons of really good independent mechanics/shops in your neck of the woods. I would definitely consider it for the peace of mind, better service and quality of work.

I was told by 2 mechanics as well as an autozone employee that my charging system/ alternator is bad.

car has 2k miles, FBO with jb4

which is why I wanted to go to dealer for warranty work, checked battery with bimmercode and it showed 12.5v

Take mods off the car... clear codes and then go to another dealer?

Modding warranty cars in CA just isn't a good idea. I always assume modified = warranty voided. It's just easier that way. ?
California is not the automotive eutopia it was years ago.

I got pulled over by a Collier County Sheriff in the Everglades on my way to Homestead. He wanted to let me know my license was showing up expired. I just passed a few cars and I was going faster to get around those cars. So I was worried it was for speeding. Anyways, he told me the car sounded great and to go to the DMV whenever I get a chance. I’ve got a AWE track exhaust, catless downpipe and driving on slicks.

He told me he was running everyone‘s plates as they passed looking for scammers (maybe skimmers). Some kind of credit card thing from what I understood. Really nice guy! Mega nice to know they are out there trying to get people doing real harm… Positive police story (my bad, carry on) ?

That's so cool. CHP would have done all that AND given you a ticket. ?

You couldn’t be talking about these guys ?

https://chips-tv.com/

I don’t ever remember any episodes of them pulling over someone for emissions or exhaust violation ?‍♂ ?

I think this is part of the standard training script to work at autozone. Especially if approaching closing time or they don’t want to change the battery. My local autozones told my son and wife the same thing. Two different cars, different autozones, on different occasions. We only needed a battery….

I bought a cheap battery/alternator tester from Amazon. It only lasted about a year before falling apart, but worked as intended. It helped me diagnose a bad alternator, after weeks of batterily swapping.
An alternator going out on such a new car is highly unlikely, though not impossible.
