Those who have used the EDC delete kit when changing from OEM struts to coilovers: What do you do with the second sensor attached to the strut. See pic. After install Im dealing with some errors that I should not be getting and Im suspicious its related to that specific sensor. See pics the sensor attached to the circled connector in the Strut.

Not a lot of information on the web, but Im sure I screwed up.

Zip tie it to the new shock in the threaded area.
So I will remove the little piece that gets connected to the OEM shock, and transplant the whole thing into the new coilover, or just leave it unplugged?.

Because I did the first, I removed the whole thing from the OEM strut and replaced tucked it in the same place where the EDC delete goes and now IM having speed wheel sensor errors, Electronic parking brake errors, and chasis errors + CEL. Damn dash looks like christmas tree

Keep it plugged in and zip tie to strut

you might have damaged a speed sensor line or sensor during install.

Thank you guys. after doing the install step by step, then adding the RSR EDC delete kits I’m getting tons of errors.

Lights on Dash: (all yellow)
CEL
Park
ABS
Parking brake

Here’s the list of errors:
E12C75
DSC_Modul interface (actual wheel speed unsecured, 0x254): signal invalid

D755F9
Signal (actual wheel speed, ID:AVL_RPM_WHL) invalid

48082A
Wheel speed sensor - rear right - supply - > short circuit to positive or open circuit

CCEC19
Signal (actual wheel speed, 46.0.1) invalid, > transmitter DSC_IB_BRS

CCEC14
Signal (wheel tolerance adjustment, 271.4.8) invalid, transmitter DSC_IB_VIP

clearly, the right rear wheel speed sensor got fried or damaged somehow while I was installing the Coilover on the right rear and that’s producing the errors and bringing the ABS lights. As to why the parking brake light is on, that’s a mystery .

Visually, the sensor looks intact, but it may have short circuited or stretched. I think the 1st step is to replace that sensor.

Just have to ask, did you try clearing them? Do they come right back?

Did you disconnect everything with the battery connected when installing?

Kinda of hard to break the speed sensors unless you where just throwing stuff around.

Yes. Tried to clear them, come right back. Also disconnected battery and tried to reset the parking brake and no fix.

Battery was disconnected while I took out the OEM stuff and replaced everything. The errors came out as I connected the battery.

also, may not be related, I’m getting a “start car battery management” dash message for a few weeks now. That goes away as soon as the car starts.

with all that I took the car out and tested and everything felt ok.

Dam car looks like a Christmas tree. But now I have to shop for that wheel speed sensor.

actually, the fact the parking brake light on as well makes me believe it’s the wheel speed sensor even more. Every BMW that I’ve worked on since the E chassis days will throw traction, ABS, and parking brake light on when they go out.

as far as that vertical acceleration sensor, you’ll get a dedicated error message if they’re toast or unplugged. I don’t recall it actually showing a dash error though.

Thanks. Thats a relief. Thats my main suspect and since the codes are pointing to the right rear speed sensor, thats where I’m going first.

there is at least one more person here in the forum that reported a damage wheel speed sensor after coilovers install, so he and I made the same stupid mistake.

will update this thread after I try that fix. So there future reference for people here.

UPDATE:

after an agonizing week of wait the replacement wheel speed sensor arrived.

Sensor was exchanged and I’m back to normal. No dash lights. No reduced power. Codes were cleared and gone.

root cause analysis: plenty of mistakes were made during installation of the coilovers and it has nothing to do with the coilovers themselves. Just bad technique.

always unplug the battery for a large work where sensors are going to be unplugged. I may have plugged the battery at one point, mid install to check on something. Just don’t.

Be đź’Ż aware of the sensors connected to the actual rotor/strut, brake lines etc. keep that out of the way and protected when. Dropping the suspension.

I think I let the sensor wire over stretch and a contact just came off the plug.

there are ways to check on the actual sensor. I will keep it and do a “forensic analysis” on it.

finally, and can’t stress this enough. Plug Bimmercode and look at the codes. They do give you clues on what the problem is and ask here. Plenty of knowledge - for sure better than an untrained Toyota technician.
Case closed.
