Moving to Fl.

Looking for some advice. Wife and I are looking to move to Florida next year. We are considering moving anywhere east of Orlando to south of Jacksonville. I like to saltwater fish so costal (or near) would be ideal for me. We don’t want be in the city but being near commodities is a plus. I know it is kind of a broad spectrum but just looking for the ins and out of those areas. Melbourne seems to have the style of houses I’m looking for but don’t want to make a decision based just on that.

Melbourne/ Merrit Island, our family is finishing our home there right now as a weekend/ summer getaway from Fort Lauderdale. Great area, real estate is getting pricey but still not terrible. we have water on both sides, ocean access is 20 min away. Great fishing. Safe area, fairly republican if that matters.

very true... drove through there this weekend, it was nuts, DT Orlando is even worse, took me 1hr on a Saturday to go 11 miles on the highway. My vote is for Merrit Island!!!!

St Augustine!!

Not the first time I heard this.

I'm semiretired and the wife works 100% remote. For a house we are looking for around the $600K.

I also heard about the tourism in St A and is the reason why it isn't on top of the list so I was thinking Palm Coast my be a good alternate. I'm retire Navy and do like the idea of being close to JAX/Mayport but it isn't a must. Most of my friends are in JAX but my parents are in Kissimmee. Can't deal with how crowded Orlando is though. I don't mind commuting. Right now I have an hour drive each way to work.

Other things to consider are schools. I have an 11 year old so that is important. I also heard that St A is very pet friendly. I have a small sled team (3 Huskies and a GSD).

Then the other interests is the car sense and I shoot competitive.

St Augustine/St johns county/Nocatee. Tourism is not really deterring unless you're living on the beach of St Augustine.

If you're interested in Melbourne, I think you would like Vierra. It is a little north of Melbourne but on the edge of it. They have great schools in Vierra as well. All the homes are relatively new. Botti also comes to Melbourne to tune at Boxer Motorsports every 4-6 weeks it seems like, if you're into that. I'm in Rockledge and I'm from Merritt Island. Let me know if you have any questions about the area.

Unfortunately $600k doesnt buy as much as it used to in St johns county.

3/2’s and 4/2’s are listing for low 400’s
But in these times,it goes to a bidding war, and can go for thousands more!

We have that issue here in Tx. It is a sellers market. House next door went for $175k over asking price. Offer was accepted in 4 hours after the first day it went in the market with an open house. There were people everywhere to see this house. I’m hopping it isn’t that dramatic in Fl.
