I just decided to go back to Barber Motorsports Park for my free track day. I raced SCCA in the midwest for nearly 20 years. I moved to Florida in 2020 and didn't drive anything on track for dozen yeras while I played with sailboats and aquariums. Then I got a Miata and started doing autoX and a couple of Track Night in America events. Then I did a track day at Barber during a Mazda Miata Reunion event. It was a total adrenatine rush. I've always loved tracks with elevation changes and Barber has them in spades. So I'm going back in July with the Supra. It should be fun!

Anybody else going to be there?

Couple buddies and myself may come out as well. Such a beautiful track and overall facility.

@Rensuhlo what do you run at barber?

Iā€˜m looking forward to cracking sub :40s. I’ve been there 2x but haven’t been since new/current setup (old setup very laggy as you can see) which has deemed to be 3 seconds quicker so far running on a low boost map. One day I want to go in cooler temps than July. This is in my FK8. I don’t track my Supra.

I'm not going to be trying to set any records... not even keeping a lap time. I had fun in the Miata just trying to get comfortable with the layout. I do hope there is a professional photographer there. I have this shot hanging on the wall in our house.

Luckily I've been a few times to that track. It's just Barber in July is bruuuuuutal. Sucks its a 10 hour tow though. Was able to do the TT4 record there my first time there. Enjoy!

I think I’ve been to Barber with you couple years ago also in July. My friends know you. They are TT5. S2000 as well

It's the only time Barber is on the NASA schedule, so I had no choice. I hope we can do homestead together sometime later in the year. I've been there as a photographer for an SCCA National weekend in January, but never as a driver.

That’d be great Ron!!!! Iā€˜ve got a lot of schlop to clean up on that track after reviewing it on the Garmin & would love to go back. Despite it being an extra 45-60 mins longer to get there. Plus it’s typically cheaper and doesn’t sell out nearly as quick as Sebring does.

Thats awesome! There's a bunch of TT5 s2000 guys. They're all a great group
I bet it wouldn’t take much to get those same times in your Supra. But the question is, what would you break 1st doing so??? And what would you upgrade besides the obvious, tires, fluids, pads, brake lines, camber plates. I bet it wouldn’t take much, unless the power to weight is far better in your S2K. Many fond memories of mine. Such great cars! Kudos to those times btw. Fantastic!!
