Hi there!

Just made my last payment on my 22 Supra and have enjoyed it stock for the past 5 years. Would like to get a new exhaust system for mine but I have no idea where to begin, to be honest. I see a lot of talk about some people just getting a downpipe, whereas others get a catless/catback system. I don't entirely understand the differences between all of these but would love to learn more about these, before making a decision on what kind to get.

My initial thoughts are that I want an exhaust that is louder, but still has all the burbles and pops that the stock exhaust has. I don't know if that's one of these full exhaust systems that would fulfill what I want, but just wanted to put my thoughts out there and hope there's some others that have gone through this experience already!

Thanks ahead of time! :)

If you've heard exhausts that you like or dislike, there was R&D behind it and that's what the manufacturer decided to go with.

With a custom exhaust, it'll be a toss-up on how it sounds. You pay the exhaust shop regardless.

I would find the sound you like and just buy that setup.

Start with a downpipe. The stock exhaust sounds great and it will be noticeably louder. You will also get a small bump in power with faster spool.

My recommendation is to keep the factory cat back exhaust and start by getting a downpipe. Can be either catless or catted. If you pair it with an OTS stage 2 map from MHD or BM3 you will not only have a great sounding exhaust note but also see a noticeable increase in performance.

Would agree with others, get the down pipe first, it’ll make the stock exhaust louder, turbo spool a little faster.

If it’s not loud enough for you then get an exhaust.

AA catted down Pipe will give you a little louder and more pops without the gas smell, they just cost a lot. Out of warranty you may as well go unlock mhd for insane cost to HP increase. If you don’t mind the gas smell at redlight go catless for very loud pops and dirt cheap to buy.
congrats on paying off the car!
