Has anyone had success with repairing chips yourself? What kit did you use, and were you happy with the result?

I bought a Colour n drive kit and the colour match was too dark. Then I went and got the local auto parts store to mix me some off their chart. It was too light so I mixed them both 2 parts to 1 part for a perfect match. 2 drops of one to 1 drop of the other, easy. Then use one of these to apply. Available on Amazon and fleabay as well for about 1/3 the price shown.
You use the applicator to dab the paint on so its proud of the paint surface and as it dries it contracts to the same level. They work very well.

For me, the trick is to get factory paint and just dab at it until slighly convex, then wet sand it. It can take literally weeks for the repair because you need the paint to fully cure before wet sand.. but the result is very good.

These days even Amazon sells micromesh sticks which is a great tool to wetsand.

^this is what i do as well depending on scratch. Make sure you don't put too much paint at once.
I got my stratosphere touchup paint from ScratchesHappen and it was very good match.
If you are not skilled with wetsanding or polishing, I would suggest just building thin coats carefully until it's near flush and end there. Keep in mind, the paint will dry more flush than when you first apply, just be patient.

I used Dr. Colorchip and the results are pretty good depending on how deep the scratch is. It’s certainly better than not doing anything about the chip or scratch I think. Paint match is spot on IMO.
