The current solution isn't really making anyone any money. Visconti isn't making that much, GTP isn't making that much, Femto isn't making that much. Going direct to them costs like a grand. And they have hundreds of hours of R&D in it, which isn't free. The only one really making out is DHL at $600 in shipping.

ECUs just aren't available, so, as the market dictates, the price goes up. The actual service price isn't there.

To tune on ECUTek if you have an unlocked Supra:
* Bench Unlock - $400
* Ecutek License - $575
* Ecutek ProECU Dongle - $275
* Tune - Depends $1200-$2500

$2400-$3750

To tune on ECUTek if you have an unlocked Supra:
* Spare ECU - Market Price (Currently, $2000, I got mine for $400)
* Shipping to and from Russia ($600)
* Femto - $900
* Bench Unlock - $400
* Ecutek License - $575
* Ecutek ProECU Dongle - $275
* Tune - Depends $1200-$2500

$4200-$7250

- $1800-$3500 Difference

And most of that is shipping and the cost of an ECU. There's literally no room in there for someone to profiteer on it. Add in insurance (or a replacement ECU if something goes wrong) and there is basically zero left. A few hundred bucks? Not to mention the hassle of shipping things over seas and dealing with customs.

And this is typically from people who spend thousands on CF Intakes, over-priced stainless steel exhausts, and BC Forged wheels.

If you want to go fast on a new platform, you gotta pay. In 10 years, sure. Things will be cheaper for this platform, maybe anyway. Even if there was a stateside unlock, it's still gonna be $400-$500 bucks.

I really, really don't understand all of the bitching and money about folks who own a $60k car over a couple extra thousand dollars. I'd expect it from the Mopar crowd paying 6% interest or whatever on a depreciating asset.
I Def understand after you word it this way for sure. I'm already 11k into the car in less then a month I could have done the ecu clone and still can do it. But I'm such a new owner I'm enjoying the hell out of the car. Me personally I didn't want to take the ecu out ship it and car sit for weeks while that happens then God forbid ecu gets lost or something. But yeah you absolutely right at this stage in the game got to pay to play.
