Hey Supra Folks!

I am in the process of buying a 2025 Supra 3.0 Premium with 1,700 miles on it and I have this weekend to decide if I want to purchase the Ally extended warranty. I’m upgrading from a 2016 Mazda 6 so I haven’t been in the car buying game in 10 years.

I included a screenshot and would GREATLY appreciate if you think I should do this! Anyone have experience with Ally? Would you get it with it being a basically brand new car?

Please help a soon to be Supra brother!🙂

Nice to meet you all,

Tom

You’re going to get a lot of opinions on this one about whether they are necessary or not.

Personally, I’ve purchased extended warranties on most of my recent vehicles because with all the new electronics, usually one warranty claim will cover the warranty cost and I personally prefer having a safety net. Others will disagree.
I would advise a manufacturer extended warranty over third party as they’re more likely to use genuine ORM replacement parts over a 3rd party warranty.
I bought my Supra warranty online from Irwin Toyota in New Hampshire. All the warranties I’ve recently purchased have been after the sale, online, from dealers who do online extended warranty sales.

For reference, I got a Toyota Platinum, zero deductible warranty for 96 months/75,000 miles for $1,592.

Finally, if you plan to heavy mod your car, especially something like unlocking the ECU, you might want to skip the warranty as it’s more likely that the warranty provider would deny any claim due to a significant mod. The Magnuson Moss warranty act only goes so far, unfortunately.

Thanks so much for the response. I’m not planning on doing any mods on it.

So, purchasing an extended warranty from Toyota would be a better option. I’m purchasing this car from a Chevy dealer. I can contact Toyota and purchase after the fact if I so choose?

Yes. Pricing may differ for pre-owned and they may require you to take the vehicle to Toyota to get an inspection prior tonissuing the policy, but I have purchased manufacturer extended warranties on pre-owned vehicles before. I think as long as you are within the factory warranty, I think most manufacturers sell an extended warranty. The closer to zero miles you are, the less expensive the policy.

A 2025 with 1,700 miles might still be considered "new" for a pre-owned manufacturer extended warranty and you might be able to avoid an inspection.

I just did a Gogle search to find dealers that sold them online and for whatever reason ended up with Irwin. I will at least say that the process was really simple with them but any dealer that is selling them over the internet likely will makenit an easy process.

Appreciate you! It seems that the Supra is very reliable car and I’ve never bought any extended warranty on any vehicle but since this is easily the most expensive car I’ve ever purchased I’m just weighing my options.

You're welcome. It's a gamble. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't. I've actually "won" on most of the extended warranties I've purchased. I spent $2,500 for a Volvo extended warranty and had about $7,500 of covered repairs, primarily AC related, which is not a luxury in Texas! Good luck!

If you plan to keep the Supra beyond the factory warranty, you will probably want an extended warranty. German cars are notoriously unreliable after the warranty period and the Supra (for better and for worse) is a German car. And the repairs will certainly be far more expensive than your former Mazda. The extended warranty for my wife’s Audi has more than paid for itself.

Appreciate your insight for sure.

I bought my supra here from a private person and contact Jerry for warranty. He’s hard to get hold of but a wonderful person to deal with once you make initial contact. Here is a cut/paste with my Information taken out of initial contract.
I have the warranty card and already used it. Jerry did not need me to take supra to dealer. Mileage at purchase around 8,000. He took my words that it’s mint and we went from there.
i have already clam around $3000 of work already. Dam oil sensor couldn’t read so Toyota dealer drop the front sub frame to install new oil pump. i don’t ever buy warranty of any kind but BMW does cost a lot for repairs and I’ll keep car for 10 years. I good repair over 10 years Will happen. My local Toyota dealer does not care much about some mods Like intake/downpipe. Hope this helps. If you don’t buy it, at least carry 5k in the bank for future repair bills. Big difference now maintance. I can do work myself buy prefere to take Supra to dealer/independent shops for routine oil change, brake bleed, rear differential fluid just so I have proper papers if ever I need proof all fluids changed.
local Toyota dealer wanted close to 4grand for same policy as my state does not allow negotiation.

I've never purchased extended warranties on cars.. you can always buy extended warranties later (I'd wait until your manufacturer's warranty nearly expires to decide whether you feel comfortable or not with the reliability of your particular hit or miss car). Euro cars are basically a hit or miss.

I also bought my warranty from Jerry. I got the 120k mile for ten years one. After much research Jerry is the only one that sells the warranty at cost with zero hassle. And as others said many will claim buying a warranty is a bad idea but for me having the peace of mind of not worrying about rising costs, increased tariffs on parts and inflation it’s nice to lock in the price now with 0 deductible.

I normally do not buy extended warranties. $2300 and personal savings can fix a lot of issues. If one makes you feel good at night, I would make sure you understand the exclusions in the policy. The majority do not cover bumper to bumper. If you do intend to do mods, I would make sure that they do not void your warranty.

Hey, Mike, I appreciate it! I didn’t get the Ally extended warranty because I demanded them send the legal document and they use 3rd party parts, exclude this and that so middle finger. I might consider an official Toyota one but, again, insurance is gonna be the insurance industry at the end of the day.

I’m it planning on doing an mods right now (I know, haha) but how many miles do you have on yours and any major issues? Do you think the Supra is pretty darn reliable unless you mod it and push its parameters?

Unless you can do work yourself like dropping the front subframe to change the oil pump, find a heavy discount on Toyota warranty Is the better route. Personally for the discounted price on the 10 year Toyota platinum warranty, it takes me 2 working days to pay for it. i Figured over 7 years of active warranty would already save me time as a decent repair would cost me at least 1 day to repair and OEM parts are hard to find.
