I have a 21 3.0 Premium and when I touch the door handle to unlock it (with my key in my pocket), the car does not unlock. Is there a setting somewhere to allows unlocking without physically pushing a button on the key?

No, it's should work by default. Are you grasping the inside of the handle where the sensor is located? Does the lock sensor work on the handle?

1) Check infotainment 'Vehicle Settings' for locking/unlocking settings
2) Does the passenger side door work as expected?
3) Try replacing the key fob battery, may be low
4) Otherwise, sensor may be failed and you can take it back to the dealer for warranty

Where in the Door/Key section does it have the option to turn on/off the handle sensor?

both fobs have new batteries, just to be sure and finally both sides of the door are inoperable when it comes to the handle sensor.

It’s kind of finicky. Are you grabbing the whole handle and squeezing it a little?

My sensor failed. Sounds like you have the same problem. Dealer ordered the part about 4 weeks ago and still has not come in.

I guess I will have to get the dealer to look at it while it's in for that recall.

Update - took my car in for a recall and when they reset the computer, the door sensors started to work. Quality German electrical engineering...
