I was checking my car after a track day and noticed that the rear passenger axel boot was leaking from the seal. Wanted to get your guys thoughts on this and see if anyone ran into something similar since I couldn't find any rips or tears on the boot.

My car is fairly new 2023 MT with 15k miles so I found that it was odd it's already leaking.

Nothing to worry about. Clean it up and keep an eye on it. It's just some grease from the CV joint. Could just be a little excess grease trapped under the boot mounting flange that squeezed out when the stainless boot clamp was crimped up. Either that or the clamp isn't crimped tight enough. Grab the green spot on the clamp and see if it and the boot will rotate.

Hey OP,

I just was checking my car and had an identical finding. My car is stock power, pretty close to stock ride height, and gets tracked ~10 times a year with 15min sessions. Im also at 30k mi currently. I tried checking to see if there were any tears and the clip itself seems tight. Did you ever check on this again and see more grease leaking?

The leak continued, so I brought it to my local race shop. They mentioned this was a common issue and that the fix was simply tightening the clips. After they did that, the leak was completely resolved. It only cost around $50 to get it taken care of.

It’s worth watching for sure. Many BMWs have a boot kits available. Unfortunately just not for ours, yet…. It’ll be nice when they do. Using a high temp grease might also be an option if it continues to happen.
