I bored mine out to accommodate M6 rivnuts. Extremely easy and now I don't have to deal with those stupid plastic tabs anymore when I need to get in there for any reason.
Nice work. What'd you use to prevent rust on the bored holes? I'm wavering between POR15 and touchup paint.

You're welcome!

I found it because my income is dependent on me knowing more about (mostly Toyota) vehicles, sub-assemblies, and specifically the individual parts that make them up, than most people could ever dream of. My signature kinda spells it out. ;)

I'm happy to help in any ways I can, so don't hesitate to ask. -RT
Coming from Hondas it was easy to find full parts diagrams and I got good at looking up specific parts for those cars. My S2000 had a pretty poor top replacement job prior to my ownership and I went through and replaced a bunch of factory fasteners. That was quite a chore even with the diagrams all available.

Feel like I'm learning a new language with this car. Doesn't help with the whole Toyota/BMW thing either. I've found some parts diagrams but definitely a lot more limited than what Honda seems to have available. I least I know who to ask now when I'm looking for parts ?

Touch up paint, but it probably offers little long term protection. Who knows... I keep my car garaged and won't drive it in the rain or any other crummy conditions so hopefully there is never an issue there. If there ever is down the road then I guess I will drill them out, clean up the area and replace with a new one but I honestly don't see that happening unless it's like 30 years later and the car spent all 30 years parked across the street from the beach.

Toyota websites have full parts and sub-part diagrams with part numbers. :) Example:
