Calling San Diego Supra 3.0T owners 🗣 Currently in the market for a catback and have narrowed down my choices to either the Frequency Intelligent catback system or AWE Tuning catback system. Before dropping $2K-$3K on an exhaust, I am reaching out to see if local folks would be game to briefly meet in person so I can get an in-person sample of what the actual exhaust sounds like on your Supra. I've listened to countless clips of online exhaust videos across many different setups but hearing it in person is still the best option. Happy to buy you a beer or some food for your time. I'm in Kearny Mesa but willing to travel to your neck of the woods to make it happen (within reason). To be specific, below are the configurations I'd be interested in checking out:

Vehicle
  • Supra 3.0T, 6-port manifold, stock tune (no extra burbles/pops), or if tuned, can revert to stock map
Exhaust
  • AMS Catted DP (400 Cell GESI) + FI Valvetronic Catback
  • AA Catted DP (400 Cell GESI) + FI Valvetronic Catback
  • AMS Catted DP (400 Cell GESI) + AWE Touring Resonated Catback
  • AA Catted DP (400 Cell GESI) + AWE Touring Resonated Catback
  • AMS Catted DP (400 Cell GESI) + FI Valvetronic Ultimate (89mm) Catback
  • AA Catted DP (400 Cell GESI) + FI Valvetronic Ultimate (89mm) Catback

I had the Resonated track edition, and I loved it but decided to throw on the Mufflers (modular exhausts are dope) to hear the difference. With exhausts it's all subjective so I won't ramble about my opinion.

One thing to note is there are two version of the FI exhaust, the original and the ultimate. The ultimate has a smaller muffler and bigger tubing. I'm a bit out of reach for you, but if you're ever in NorCal I'm running the:
  • AA Catted DP (400 Cell GESI) + FI Ultimate Catback

Yes, I considered their ultimate version but was on the fence. I'll add it to the list since it doesn't hurt to ask. Does the ultimate catback bolt up to the DP just the same as the regular FI catback? From what I understand, it goes from 3.15in at the DP to 3.5in at the ultimate catback. Also, what are you thoughts on the ultimate/have any videos? Not many samples to checkout online for ultimate.

The ultimate lines up just fine with the DP. I presume both were made to mate to stock components so they both match.

I can try to grab some clips, but videos don't really do a good job of showing the volume. Having run both, I prefer the ultimate. With the valve closed it's equally as quiet as the original one, but valve open is much louder than the original. Even with the valve open on the original it was still fairly quiet.

Copy all. I've heard the exact same thing - Standard FI catback with catted dp and valves open is still pretty quiet. Would love to hear any clips you got not so much for volume but for tone since the vidoes I have seen online are with catless DP which is a different animal entirely. Either way, thanks for posting up your opinions and experience with both systems. In my simple mind, I love the control and sound that FI offers, but the AWE catback tone is pretty hard to ignore. Just wish AWE had a valved version.

I have a Dinan system, and love it but didn't see your post until now. When the valve is closed, there is no resonating, but when open, it is essentially mufferless, so there is some resonating going on. Still, I've had many compliments.

I have the original FI exhaust with AA catted DP. I am in LA area though and cant really travel too far due to baby.
