Require recipient signature on high dollar items. Personally, I prefer to sell local when I can, but if itās not locally then most car forums will have folks that will vouch for sellers AND buyers which can give you some peace of mind.Could you answer me this? When i sell something, I prefer to accept Venmo, cash app, paypal F&F, BUT I also leave it to the buyer on what they feel comfortable with, i will only buy with paypal G&S. And this is why, when I worked for a shop (that's actually on this site but was before the Supra came out) we would ship off items they would show dropped off the "customer" would state they didn't receive it. we would lose the money and the "customer" would have his money and most likely the product. If I ship something paid with G&S and they file a claim saying they didn't receive it, I'm screwed right?
With my Mustang stuff, luckily everything worked great, the most expensive part was an Corsa exhaust, and it went smooth, I have 1 last item left (2300$ Mantic clutch) but I don't want to mail it as I'm worried the buyer will just claim it didn't come and I'm out my clutch and the money. Is that how it works for us?
This particular guy screamed scam from the start, so unfortunate he got taken for a ride, but at least he has buyer protection.
eBay really screwed sellers long ago, we used to sell a ton but between eBay and PayPal it was hard to win any dispute as a seller, plus you could never leave negative feedback anymore, only receive it.
I sold an iMac one time, shipped across the country only for the guy to claim it no longer worked and demand a refund. I immediately thought scam or idiot, but I had all the details of precisely what I sent him and asked him to ship it back. He did and it worked fine, so seemed like buyers remorse but I hate dealing with high dollar items online ever since.
