I had a fun, although a bit chilly, day at Sebring. I run the intermediate group because I'm not out to prove just how fast I can be. I did that for 15+ years while racing wheel to wheel in SCCA Nationals. Besides, it's not like I'm in my 20's or 30's or even my 60's... at 76 years old I know I'm not young and immortal and my reaction times aren't what they used to be. For me, Track Days are just a chance to get out and enjoy pushing the car hard enough to get my adrenaline flowing. I have to admit, I felt pretty much at one with the car. By the third session I was feeling the car breaking adhesion of the slightly bumpy track surface. and with 35+ cars on track, only 3 cars passed me and I passed quite a few... some faster and better prepared than mine. Mine is still completely stock, with the original tires and recommended street tire pressures. But I passed more than a couple of new Corvettes and Porsches! I'll post photos when I get them.
So I'm done until next spring or early summer and I intend to try for Road Atlanta and VIR for sure and maybe even a big trip to Watkins Glen. All tracks I never got the chance to race on.
