Good luck with your next car, whatever it is let it be fun.

Ok, now this is a corner of the car community I've yet to get a good handle on. 3,600 miles and 18 months of ownership. That's like 200 miles a month. Not even a tank of gas. And OP liked the car. Granted, I live in Texas which is going to have a big difference on average trip length vs. the UK. But boy howdy, that's a lot of money for a car that gets driven 200 miles a month. Different strokes for different folks, a lot of money for some is not much for another, I get it. No judgement. But a non racecar/drag car/collector.. I just don't understand.

Its really easy to keep miles low when you have more than one car. I still drive mine several times a week and managed 3500 in the first year.

It is nice because the car does feel a lot more special when its not your daily. Otherwise you just get used to it!

It's not like I'm trying to preserve it for the next owner ?

I have 5 cars to drive and 2 of them are manual trans and I also don`t drive the Supra in the winter. It`s time t get it out to drive it. I also don`t get the low miles in that amount of time because I drove about a thousand miles in the Supra in my first 2 weeks. I love the car and all my sports cars and I drive them because I really enjoy it . I have friends that have various cars i.e. Vettes, Porsche, M3`s etc. and they spend more time looking at them than driving them. Crazy to me but to each there own I guess.

Yes, it is really interesting how it works isn't it, I am more than happy to add some context for you: for me the Supra was idolized as a very special thing, I used to sit in the garage with a beer sometimes, just to enjoy looking at it and studying the shape of it; it was only ever driven in the dry weather, usually once or twice a month for a longer drive to somewhere nice, this is also why I only ever buy factory new cars so I can be 99% certain I can control the pristine condition from the start.

The idea was that every time I take it out for a drive, it's an experience, and the Supra feels and looks like it just rolled off the factory line, cleanest car on the road! - interestingly as well, since dry weather is very rare in the UK, other weird folk like me, would often have the same idea on those days with their own pride and joy, so I would almost always end up finding another cool sports car to convoy / play around with on the way to wherever I was going.

I know that like you said, this type of ownership/attitude is completely absurd/insane/ocd whatever you want to call it, to some, but everything is relative; I don't have a lot of money, and I hate my job, so for me owning this car was my only escape from depression, one of my peak life achievements, and I do not regret it at all; I'm also (as you can tell probably tell) a pretty lonely / non social person, so what seems weird to some could be another person's cherished time; I'm the type of dude that prefers detailing a car's door jamb, than socialize with someone (lol).

Because I'm open minded I 100% understand those who buy the Supra as a track car only, or an all-weather daily driver beater, to each their own, I chose the GT approach :)

Finally, as someone else said, I also have a cheaper daily driver which I also like very much, so I would only drive the Supra when I wanted to, not when I *needed* to.

Cheers

This book ☝ is fantastic for someone like yourself. I loved it! The author is from Canada ?, hates her job, and is hilarious ?. Hopefully you’re index funding your ass off and will be done soon. She quit after 10 years of working. We all have different reasons, like you said, for “buying” more time. Hopefully to enjoy the smaller things in life. Kudos for your honesty ?
