Hello All, please accept my apologies in advance, i am new to the forum and on buying little marketing only expensive bmw+toyota+sirius reedition cars which it seems, you expensively buy it to finish it at home. Bought a supra black 3.0 automatic as a gift for my sons graduation. It was “loaded” at the dealer talk, website, everywhere when buying the only one new around florida state, but it was not when delivered. I am having a hard time to get the apple carplay coded wireless or wired by toyota or bmw, before getting a bimmer code or tech path, I realized nobody at the dealers around are trained enough to help me or anybody with a supra, the car is made in austria, does not comply often with the car specifications designed in japan with german parts added ? the customer care is a pity dealing with either for toyota or bmw. Decided to appeal to the forum because it looks like you guys know more than toyota and/or bmw itself about the little expensive jewelry marketing pure. Have anyone being able to sort the apple carplay out with toyota or bmw before bimmer some or returning the little s ..port car? Thanks in advance.

Oh that’s bad. I bought a base model, so CarPlay was not an option for me. But you are right: the dealers are useless as they don’t care basically once the car is sold.
In my case, it’s been 6 months and my car still does not show up as imported into the US so the Toyota app is not working.

If they promised and charged you for Apple CarPlay, either you should be refunded or the car returned.

The coding of CarPlay via BimmerRemote works well:

sorry to hear. wireless carplay comes on the 3.0 with Safety & Tech package or the 3.0 Premium.

you can visit this site to integrate carplay. they, bimmer remote, actually encourage you to contact them if you have any questions. good luck!

Thanks man, I have seen it somewhere but I want to insist on toyota and bmw to correct the misleading marketing approach, if you look at the car specs for a 3.0 base automatic or mt with tft 8.8” touch is was suppose to have it once the dealer tells you it has (available), it would be acceptable to have it wired, but on my age it is not acceptable to let you assume or better confuse you and giving you nothing at end, it is unfair to feed the youngster desire for a complete sport car, charge you for and do not give it to you based on different interpretation of the literature, making you to feel stupid even once you know the HU needs just a checklist on an option at the code (firmware) Thank you and sorry to lay it out. It is nowadays a safety and wellbeing feature at any car limiting the phone device handling god damn it. ?

Did your car come with Safety & Technology package? If no, did you have to buy any BMW wireless/wifi module to plug into the back of the head unit?

Just curious as I wanna add carplay to my base model too, but don't feel like opening up the entire dash console to add the wifi module.

Sure. You do NOT need to buy any hardware. All base A90 and A91s can have the wireless CarPlay installed via software only.

The only way that Carplay works (at least on MY22 and older) is wirelessly. Plugging in the cable will not get it working, it is all done wirelessly.

Once you have it set up you can plug your phone in to charge, however, carplay still only works via wireless and not cable unfortunately. I wish it worked with a cable cause I hate the delays when trying to swap music and sometimes even navigate the menu once in awhile.

This is what I meant. This person mentioned that he needed a wireless module to the back of the head unit on his Base model, otherwise even the Bimmer-Remote tech couldn't get CarPlay to work.

Obviously Base models might lack the wireless module that's required for Carplay. But I'm just not sure if it's all Base models don't have that Wireless module, or only the ones without the Safety/Technology package.
