Hello, All.

I am in the planning phase for building/tuning my new 2026 MT Supra. I have been out of the tuning world for over a decade, so I have a lot to learn (and relearn), so thank you for your patience with the ignorance that will be woven through my questions.

I have an affinity for titanium. Aside from gold, it is my favorite metal for a host of reasons. Primarily, I want the incremental weight savings that titanium can provide for my car. Therefore, I have been looking for a catless titanium downpipe for my build. I plan to pair it with the titanium exhaust from ValveTronics (a 25-pound lighter alternative to the stock assembly).

Does anyone know of another reputable titanium downpipe aside from the t22 pipe listed below? What should I be considering that I haven’t mentioned here? Thanks in advance for your help!

(I understand that the Supra will require a proper tune to benefit from the new downpipe.)

$1,200 for a catless downpipe? I don't think titanium is the way to go. The minimal weight reduction on a downpipe just doesn't justify the cost. Better off getting a stainless hiflow catted at that price.
Titanium is rigid, highly brittle under extreme heat cycling, and with all those pie cuts taking the direct heat from the turbo, you're just asking for a crack one day if it's not perfectly made.
Fabbing titanium isn't some cakewalk, either. You better be careful who the fabricator is and how meticulous they are with their work, or the welds will fail.
Why not spend the extra money on a stainless steel downpipe, ceramic coat it, and wrap it in an Inconel heat shield?
Titanium exhaust maybe i would spend... those are going to be a shit load of pie cuts.

Thank you for the feedback, guys. The heat is a concern. That makes me think of another question: I have seen headers and downpipes wrapped in heat shields before ...and the pipes seemed to fail quickly due to the constant heat soak. What are your thoughts?

The lithium battery is a fantastic idea! I'll start researching our options.

You're mostly stock... so I don't see the point in spending on aggressive thermal management.

If you're doing a full build and spending a lot on a manifold, turbine housing, downpipe, professional fabricator, and pushing 700~800 wheel, then you want thermal management.

Things to consider on a failure: thermal cycling, material grade, wall thickness, fabricator........WELD QUALITY.

Ceramic coat + blanket metal sheathing should give a ~50% reduction in engine bay temps. The trapped heat will increase exhaust pulse velocity as well.
I've read there isn't much of a difference in stainless vs Inconel metal wraps, but it's debatable and if money is no object, go for it.

Don't use fiberglass exhaust wraps... they're abrasive, trap moisture, and will cause corrosion. Abrasive material * vibration + water = enjoy replacing it one day.

Thank you, kindly. She'll be over 700HP at the wheels eventually. I am just moving slowly as I get back into the game.

I appreciate your help.
