Yesterday was the SW Autoworx & Network Wheels run to 5-0 Supercars.
The weather pretty shocking, but we had a dry start at least - but after 2hours+ of driving it was mostly torrential rain & storms.
The Supra never missed a beat, in stage 2 guise she feels mighty - able to keep up with the V10 R8's nicely... 3rd gear is absolutely mega at the moment! :spaz:

We covered large tracts of Somerset & Wiltshire, generally sticking to less popular routes - excepting the climb up through Cheddar Gorge....which requires quite a lot of concentration when it's really wet!

I've also had a play with the map settings and seem to have successfully nuked out the excessive burbles, leaving them in place for sport mode above 2k rpm & 20kph.

TL:DR - yesterday was awesome

I've been playing with the go-pro this weekend as there was another meet only 40mins up the road in Warminster.
This shows what I was hoping to achieve with the exhaust/inlet setup: Louder than standard, but not totally obnoxious. (Well, it's not inside the car... need to get some rolling/driveby videos, or be brave and use the external mount)

Ive got a couple of questions id be really interested in your opinion on.
1. Do you think the blueish titanium part of the exhaust stands out? I really like that system but with a red car it seems like it would contrast poorly.
2. Do you think the exhaust is worth it without the decat? Back when you first got the car is probably as far as i want to go.
3. Are you considering springs and spacers? (sorry if i missed this in the thread) I dont want to ruin the ride quality/usability but would love a 20mm drop.

My thoughts are:

1) Not especially - it does if you keep it scrupulously clean, (Akrapovic recommend a rub with WD40 or similar) but even then it's more of a blue hue as opposed to a stand out colour.

2) If it's you only exhaust modification on a car that's running an OPF then there is no real tangible noise difference IMO; it's a little deeper but certainly no louder. (Not sure when the UK cars went OPF, mine is a '22 and had the OPF) There are better ways of spending £3.4k if you want to improve the sound and only change the back box IMO.

3) I'm not considering changing the springs/stance at all at the moment - most because that would make it very hard to live with for me due to the country lanes. I'd be interested to see what you go with though if you do make a change.

4) I'd recommend the MST intake kit, (not that you asked!) as a good way to add some old school turbo drama to the car. It's not going to release any power etc, but it does make a huge a difference to the intake soundtrack.

:)

Thank you for the fast response, I know i asked a lot! all UK supra's have the OPF (mine is 2019 build & 2020 reg) with a back box mod and it sounds like the back box mod is as good as it gets in my case.

Intake is defiantly on the cards for a bit more drama. I was thinking of getting the Eventuri or the Dinan in the future. I really appreciate your thoughts on that being a good alternative as it were.

I have country lanes and speed bumps up the wazoo so im very nervous about lowering but it looks so good after a small drop!

Just a side note - Im very curious about your LC500 experience. Was it the V8? Think the supra is better? I like those so it was a future option for me.

I've heard good things about Eventuri & Dinan too.

The LC500 was/is epic - deeply loved that car, just totally unsuited to rural life.
Mine was a V8, and UK Black Inspiration build No.1.

It's very hard to compare the LC500 to the Supra, the only things in common are the number of doors really. The LC is leagues ahead of the Supra in build quality, fit, finish and NVH. Every bit of that car is beautifully made and stunning to look at. (With the exception of the centre armrest/cubby hole catch mechanism which appears to have been designed and engineered with the same finesse and robustness of a Netto own brand bin liner)
It was designed to be an excellent, feel good coupe - nothing was scrimped on and they didn't benchmark it until it was finished. There was no desire to build something that was 0-60 in this, or laps the 'ring in that etc... it was all about how it made you feel. The end result is around 2 tons, even with a huge amount of carbon fibre, CRFP and aluminium. (Not to mention the vast wing on the Black Inspiration)
The LC500 looks and sounds amazing, it's quick in it's own right but a standard Supra is faster.

They are a GT/cruiser, not a sports car. The autobox was a thing of majesty, as was running it up to the limiter and then downshifting.

Think Japanese Maserati GT/Aston Vantage and you are about right. The Supra is a better sports car by miles and miles, but you wouldn't pick the Supra for a trip to Cannes...

That car is absolutely stunning, I'm genuinely shocked.
It must be because it has the "Supra effect", never see it on the roads, but my goodness the spec you have on it is a thing of beauty.

If you have ready access to sensible roads then you should own one at some point - they are glorious.

Rattling Akrapovic silencer removed and on its way back to factory, Cusco front brace now fitted. (SW Autoworx pics)

Even the best can have quaility problems.
But all in all, are you happy with the Akrapovic exhaust purchase? Or if you could get the money back, would you choose another one?

It does exactly what I hoped; keeps a car with no CAT/OPF from being too antisocial.

Akrapovic have been really good throughout, I notified them directly when the rattle started, (which was pretty much immeadiately) as I wanted an opinion on if it was likely to settle down/get worse. They contacted the UK supplier & fitting agent, worked out a time that was good for all of us to have the car off the road, and will either repair/replace the silencer. Can't ask for more than that. :)

My inner 18 year old is furious with me and wants a single pipe exiting out under the door or something! 😂

Good to hear that Akra focuses on great service too. Hopefully it will end well

I also had problems with my Remus exhaust and after 2 tries, they fixed it 😄
Now im thinking about getting a 200 cell DP but im afraid it might get too loud with my setup. I expect my setup to drone alot more than yours since Akras system is probably better designed to filter drone out.

I do get a bit of drone/resonance at certain speeds/rev combinations, but that is very specific. (Say 65mph in 6th or something - it's fine at 64 or 66mph for example)

just thought I would share my setup incase it helps..😀

I was also concerned with lowering mine with the billion speed bumps per square millimetre in my area. So, I went with 20” wheels which has basically raised the car by a bit so if I do want to lower I at least have some extra height now. Saying that, I am pretty happy as it is for now where fatter tyres+flush offsets also helps fit the space.
