Mine is about 1100 a year, make, 42, clean license (for now!) and 14yrs NCB.
New 2023 Supra and went with Adrien Flux. Required me to fit a tracker which they supplied also. However slightly more expensive for insurance in Northern Ireland too compared to main land.

So this has been an interesting afternoon.

I am looking to change the springs and put the MSS kit on my car. Aviva won't insure with that modification.

So on a specialist insurance ring round Adrian Flux is the cheapest quote at just over ÂŁ1200 for 50 year old, garaged, 9+ years ncb, 10000 miles including 2000 business miles and would need to fit their tracker too. So a bit heavy on mileage and needing business cover which will have added to the premium but this is my only vehicle and it was bought to be enjoyed.

The thing that was interesting was I was asked about whether I had a Toyota catalytic converter lock on the car when speaking to Adrian Flux. The large number of recent thefts of catalysts from Toyota cars seems to be pushing premiums up for all Toyotas which I wasn't aware of.

My car is garaged and not accessible most of the time but anyone else had any similar conversations and it will be interesting to see if there is a more pronounced increased cost on insuring our Supras at renewal time.

Anyway any other ideas on companies doing modified car cover would be useful as I wasn't necessarily expecting a 3 fold increase in premium for just springs ?. One company said it would be cheaper if I had more modifications as that would then allow access to more underwriters which seems anti-intuitive.

I do feel like the government needs to step in and manage these price rises. I doubt any Supra owners would drive uninsured but to make it a legal requirement and allow them to increase the cost by the volumes of the last 6/12 months makes me so mad.

To save everyone time I rang my GR Toyota Garage.

You can't get a Catloc for the Supra they are aimed at Prius mainly. Supra are counted as low risk.

You can get your catalyst smart watered for free at Toyota though.

That is my slightly tenuous insurance post over on catalyst related premium uplifts.

However if you know a Prius owner check if they have a catloc they could be affecting our premiums ????

My next renewal, im Going to change my identity to female to see if I can get it cheaper.
I went one better and now insured through Sheila's Wheels ? as much cheaper than specialist insurers. Saved ÂŁ500 on the Adrian Flux quote with the springs modification in the quote which based on other renewal quotes seems OK and from the start of the day and ÂŁ2000 quotes - job done.

I’m with Admiral, my gf has insurance with Admiral already so i got a multicar discount for the rest of her duration which ends march 24. So i’m paying £270 for 6months with mods declared ( only a spoiler atm ) so hopefully renewal won’t be too high!

5yrs ncb
Plus had to put accident claim
