(US Owners) Do you receive automatic navigation/map updates?

got a 2021 model with coded out start/spot. Never did the recall update and didn’t know supra had a supra connect thing. hell I don’t know how to use the center screen thing. God I hope there dont do automatic updates.

The only automatic updates that I am aware of right now are navigation updates

Well, as an update, I registered for Supra Connect. In case anyone else runs into this in the future, if you already have a BMW Connected Drive account it’s the same login via a slightly different URL. I also ran into an issue with the website saying my VIN is invalid. I logged out and tried it again a few minutes later, and it eventually worked and I was able to register the car.

I drove around for over an hour yesterday, but no maps update was pushed. Maybe it needs more time, we shall see.

One other thing I noticed is that I don’t see the option to select the automatic map update region, which has been mentioned in other threads here and on BMW forums. Screenshots for reference.

I got the supra connect app. The dealer had to set it up before I bought it. It’s not bad. I can quickly look up mileage, gas, location, blow the horn & stuff like that. However, I’ve never been to a dealership after buying the car (actually didn’t go there to buy it either, had it shipped) or had the recent recall update.

I‘m used to apple car play & never really used the, Toyota/Supra/BMW whoever makes it, maps. I did notice changes on the screen however when not connected to apple car play. Regardless the car works just fine & I won’t take it into them unless I’m forced to.

To provide another update, my car began receiving the regional map updates a few weeks after signing up for Supra Connect. The region selection now appears on the website, whereas upon initial enrollment it did not immediately appear (screenshot a few posts above)

The updates are apparently iterative and done in sequential order, which for me means catching up since early 2020. So far I’ve received 3 updates up to 2020-3.

So, lesson is that signing up for Supra Connect is apparently what enables OTA nav map updates.
