MY RESPONSE.....
Dear Devin and Lee,

Service keeps talking about electronics activation after sale….clearly (see below) wrong, PDI calls for the car to be taking off transport mode and also activate electronics and map, that was 100% missed and not done. QUESTION what else have they missed????

DEALER...
Theo
I just looked into it they do the PDI but they do not activate the navigation because that's when your subscription starts so they wait until the car is sold before it is put in the system so if that car was sitting here for eight months you would've lost eight months of navigation since it was just now put in navigation. Starts now

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? COSHER ANSWER OR BS?
That's definitely how it works as far as activation and the length of the subscription. But it doesn't take into account the fact that dealers don't say "now that you've purchased the car let's go activate the nav." Instead it's "wait, what do you mean the navigation isn't working? We filled out the form on the website!"

Just purchased mine on Friday and I got the "navigation screen of death". Sales guy said the Supra tech will be on vacation until next and at that time, they can do the activation. Will try another dealer first.......

Pretty funny actually....

Hello everyone,

so I will preface by saying I had my car delivered without its navigation system activated. I had it fixed in approximately two days at a dealer different from the one I bought the car at. Detailed below is the complete process required to activate the navigation from my information from early August 2019.

When your car is taken off the trailer, it arrives in transport mode. During the PDI, they deactivate transport mode and activate the navigation system.

Activation of the nav system requires a code to be input into the car using Toyota's computer that only techs can use.

The way this works is that the tech submits a request to this website https://www.toyota-tech.eu/navigation/supra/login. This sends a request to BMW in Germany who then approve for the navigation code. The tech will receive an e-mail immediately after they submit the request which gives an estimated time for the activation code's arrival. This code is only functional for a period of several days after which another code will need to be requested and the process repeated.

These requests are processed four times a day in Germany's time. I can't remember what they are specifically, but it's along the lines of 9:00, 12:00, 1:45, and 4:00 (don't use these for actual planning, they are just what I can remember). The process can take up to 3 days.

Now, ideally, the dealer who receives the car should be responsible for activating the navigation as it is officially part of the PDI process.

However, the only thing needed to actually submit the navigation request is the vehicle's VIN which does not seem to be linked to any specific dealership. In my case, I ended up activating my navigation at a dealership that I did not buy the car from. I should note that the tech told me that since the navigation activation is part of the PDI, they are not paid to fix your car. The only reason they would is if they're being nice.

The process I used to activate the navigation was I first stopped by on a weekday to my local dealership and spoke to their Supra specialist and asked if he could do it. He agreed and we submitted for the activation code request. The email he received estimated it would arrive at 1:45 the next day. I left and dropped the car off the following afternoon but he did not have time that evening so I picked it up the next morning and everything functioned perfectly.

Wow...three years later, and I have the same problem. Thanks to your information, I finally convinced the dealer to take appropriate action.

I've had my local dealership, Toyota of Plano, "order the software" on 2 separate occasions with the promise that they'll call me when it comes in. I never got a call. Granted, I did not purchase my car from them but even still, wtf?

I've been dealing with this exact thing for a year now too. Even got the recall done and even let they try again during my last oil change service and they still cannot get the nav working. Its really fucking pathetic.

That really sucks to hear man, specially that it’s such an easy procedure. No other dealers around you ?

I am dealing with this exact issue on my '23 MT. I've been to the dealer TWICE and it's still not fixed. It's really sad but not worth my time to care about it anymore. I'll just use my phone if I need navigation.

Dealing with this too, asking for an activation code. Before delivery the dealer ordered the code and entered it in during the PDI but still does not work. Does the dealer do something on their end to activate it online, I've been reading that some owners had their Nav start working all of a sudden after a few days.

Same issue in 2023. I'm now struggling with local Toyota dealer and Toyota Poland in order to have this navi activation issue fixed. Good to read that you guys were able to fix it, I'm gonna keep pushing Toyota do activate navi, since this is what I paid for :)

Update 14.11.2023: My local dealer was so nice to fix this issue free of charge. I helped them a bit using info from 1st post here, since it looked like, they were fixing this issue on Supra for the 1st time as well. It took them 5h, since we were waiting for a key a bit longer but at the end it worked and I was able to drive away on the same day, using my Navi.

Now the question is, how to update maps, since dealership installed maps from 2022.

After 6 months I finally got my navigation activated. I “ordered” the map on https://www.toyota-tech.eu/Navigation/Supra/Login the day before my service appointment and went to Millennium Toyota in Long Island and told the service rep I just need the Tech to click yes on the system. He said don’t worry I got you and believe it or not he meant it! So it finally works after going to 3 dealers in Maryland that gave me the run around and one very disrespectful service manager down there. No idea why they all wanted to charge me $300+ to do something so simple that should have been working from the start.
