Just an update, the dealers owner has had several meetings with the culprits and was " so mad he left for the day" Be sure to always use the dealer BS meter for these types of stories. I am supposed to hear more tomorrow.
My local Toyota dealer who services my TRD Pro 4Runner said they are not Supra certified yet ( even though they have sold two ) and cannot do the Navigation activation. I grew tired of this and called Toyota USA and they are now involved if only for documentation.
It has become sort of comical, but it gets better...
My awesome state requires my car , a 2020, 50 state compliant car at that to get a smog certificate, so I ran it by the shop, it failed. Of course it did, it has 22 miles on it and they said it needs 100 or so because at some point the battery was disconnected and won't give proper readings. I'm driving around California with it with some strange VA tag placed about the middle of the windshield of proof of some kind.
Finally, my USAA insurance bill came today, officially the Supra is more expensive to insure than my 2018 RS3, 2018 GT3, 2019 SQ5, 2019 JCW and 2019 TRD Pro, the last two combined. It beats the GT3 by 100 dollars and the RS3 by 163 dollars! The RS3 was 72k dollars as I got a special color and the GT3 171k.....they must think Supra owners are a risk group. I know it all varies but I am 49 no tickets in 24 years etc etc.
Again, I am finding this all very amusing.
On a positive note, I really like the car. I would venture to say that my RS3 would be hard pressed to really beat the Supra but it would as the launch is almost unbeatable. The GT3 is PDK and would be neck and neck until the Porsche would leave it behind. The handling is interesting, almost loose/effortless in turn-in but really fun! This is after a whopping 24 miles mind you. I've had BMW's with M3's and M5's and like BMW interiors so that was a plus. But the car gathers attention...at the moment. I am very glad I got Downshift Blue. It changed color 3 times today. Purple, grey and blue. I have Maritime Blue on my GT3 and Riveria Blue on my RS3 so I do like my blues. Even Voodoo on my TRD.
Oh, the binder, the dealer said they stopped ordering them as they were 6 dollars per car at 200 cars a month. I could only reply " wow" to that statement. They did order me a red stitched leather one....for 6 dollars.
I had a FJ Cruiser which was my first Toyota exp, it was a disaster and the 4Runner was better but holy %^%^ there is a world of difference from Toyota and certain European brands, not all as my RS3 buy was awful. But just wow.
