That really, really sucks to hear! I hope you get it sorted out or Toyota replaces your car with an equivalent launch edition!

I would assume that you’ve tried a few different dealerships? The process was very easy where I went.
Well, I try to avoid bringing it to another Toyota dealership because I work there, however the process is the same with the same ISHTA software and laptop-cable. Besides, the effort was no longer done by the dealership mechanic, it was by engineers from Toyota division of Field Technical Specialists (FTS).

Mine is in the process of being turned into a lemon and, no, I don't want another Supra. This experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth, so to speak.

Very unfortunate that you’ve have that experience. The car is a blast to drive, but I definitely understand your point!

Just had to drop mine off at the dealership to try and figure out the Nav. Salesperson thought I could just receive the code via email which didn't work as mentioned earlier. Now they tell me anywhere from 3-5 days to get it activated? Seems like a lot of confusion regarding this issue from the dealers.

Absolutely not, go to a different dealer. It took no more than 30 minutes for the dealer to get mine activated!

They actually had it fixed by the next day. I don't know why they told me it would take so long.

The BMW procedure states it could take a few days but the dealership should attempt first before telling you that. It literally was 20-30 minutes and I was ready to roll.

Same here brand new 2021 two days old and the dealer didn’t activate my navigation . So stupid that I can just make an account and log in myself to activate . Literally some bullshit

Same issue. Had to drop off at the dealer. They just called me and said that they have to close for the day and will do it tomorrow. They are keeping the car overnight. worst thing ever!

Same issues here that most are having. I just don't understand why the process is so convoluted. These aren't ICBM launch codes ffs

Man, those are even easier. Turn both keys at the same time. Enter password. Press big red button ?.

Hello everyone,

so I will preface by saying I had my car delivered without its navigation system activated. I had it fixed in approximately two days at a dealer different from the one I bought the car at. Detailed below is the complete process required to activate the navigation from my information from early August 2019.

When your car is taken off the trailer, it arrives in transport mode. During the PDI, they deactivate transport mode and activate the navigation system.

Activation of the nav system requires a code to be input into the car using Toyota's computer that only techs can use.

The way this works is that the tech submits a request to this website https://www.toyota-tech.eu/navigation/supra/login. This sends a request to BMW in Germany who then approve for the navigation code. The tech will receive an e-mail immediately after they submit the request which gives an estimated time for the activation code's arrival. This code is only functional for a period of several days after which another code will need to be requested and the process repeated.

These requests are processed four times a day in Germany's time. I can't remember what they are specifically, but it's along the lines of 9:00, 12:00, 1:45, and 4:00 (don't use these for actual planning, they are just what I can remember). The process can take up to 3 days.

Now, ideally, the dealer who receives the car should be responsible for activating the navigation as it is officially part of the PDI process.

However, the only thing needed to actually submit the navigation request is the vehicle's VIN which does not seem to be linked to any specific dealership. In my case, I ended up activating my navigation at a dealership that I did not buy the car from. I should note that the tech told me that since the navigation activation is part of the PDI, they are not paid to fix your car. The only reason they would is if they're being nice.

The process I used to activate the navigation was I first stopped by on a weekday to my local dealership and spoke to their Supra specialist and asked if he could do it. He agreed and we submitted for the activation code request. The email he received estimated it would arrive at 1:45 the next day. I left and dropped the car off the following afternoon but he did not have time that evening so I picked it up the next morning and everything functioned perfectly.

Bought mine 10 days ago and it also had this problem. Such a stupid process, that should be easy but has too many points where something could go wrong.
In my case the backend system at BMW wasn’t updating, despite the dealer getting the email and waiting until the time it should have been activated. My car ended up in BMW’s database the day after it was supposed to be active.

MY RESPONSE.....
Dear Devin and Lee,

Service keeps talking about electronics activation after sale….clearly (see below) wrong, PDI calls for the car to be taking off transport mode and also activate electronics and map, that was 100% missed and not done. QUESTION what else have they missed????

DEALER...

I just looked into it they do the PDI but they do not activate the navigation because that's when your subscription starts so they wait until the car is sold before it is put in the system so if that car was sitting here for eight months you would've lost eight months of navigation since it was just now put in navigation. Starts now

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? COSHER ANSWER OR BS?

Sounds right. The Canada "Navigation Map Activation and Transport Mode Deletion
During PDS" TSB says in part:
  • The 4-year free update period is calculated from the completion of the license key order, NOT from the activation timing.
  • Best practice is to order and install the license key before delivery of the vehicle to the customer. Do not order the license key for vehicles that may remain in dealer inventory for an extended time.
