Victoria laws on rear wings

Hi guys and gals, am interested in getting a voltex wing for the Supra.

I’ve read mixed things on the Internet on the laws and regulations, and have also seen a black Supra near me (Camberwell) that has one.

could anyonegive me a definitive answer on this matter?

I've never heard of this but in the nanny state I wouldn't be all that surprised if there's some bullshit rule to navigate. If you go to the Vicroads website there are lots of documents on regulations, etc. Maybe give them a call.

I've never heard of anyone getting defected for a spoiler. Honestly, unless you're doing something pretty dumb at the time, nobody is going to care.

No serial numbers or licences required, just toy guns just can't look realistic - gotta have the orange muzzle cap and usually fluro-coloured.

We have a ton of ridiculous laws.. road rules in particular. I think we are the only place in the world where speeding (at a high enough speed) is a full on criminal offense. Also, up until this year, paying for a meal at a drive through using your phone was technically against the law.

We also have this thing where cars get impounded for anything related to hooning - which can be pretty much defined as driving in a way the police don't like. And on that - if you didn't already know - we have this bullshit demerit system where if you lose too many points in too short a time, they'll take your license away.

Beyond that, the gun laws in Australia are actually idiotic - I mean sure, not handing out guns is fine.. but I remember a collectible toy transformer was confiscated because it transformed into a gun. ?

Don't get me wrong, it's actually a great place.. but some of the laws are just incredibly dumb.

I looked into this before, wings in Victoria are covered under the below standards. Reference is the Vic roads guide on modification of motor vehicles.

Protrusions

A modification to a vehicle must not
result in:

- any object or fitting, protruding
from any part of the vehicle in a
manner likely to create the risk of
bodily injury to any person

- any component, feature object or
fitting on the vehicle whose design,
construction and/or condition and
the manner in which it is affixed,
is likely to create the risk of bodily
injury to any person

- any bumper bar which does not
have its ends turned towards the
body of the vehicle to a sufficient
extent to avoid any risk of hooking
or grazing any person.

Vertical supports forward of the
windscreen for use in conjunction
with overhead carriers must not
adversely affect the vehicle driver’s
forward field of view (see VSI 29

more information).
