Ooooo a cherry kia sorento. Sounds gorgeous!Always wanted a Kia Sorento So I asked my moms for a loan and bought a cherry one.
Do you have a picture? Sounds like a great ride!At the beginning, in 1977, in Cali, there was the 1976 BMW 2002 and the sickness took hold, followed en suite by 1981 Alfa Romeo GTV6+, SaabTurbo, BMW735i, BMW E34, BMW 1988 E39, BMW 01 E39, BMW E90 335i, then a 996 C4S then a 997 C2S convertible. When my mechanic advised me that the engine in the 997 was about to expire, the only thing I could afford with at least most of the handling and power I was accustomed to and the looks to match was the Supra.
Mine is stock, a daily and I feel no need to modify it. Where will I use all of that power outside of the track?
I'm pleased with my choice. I have German engineering and power with Toyota reliability at an affordable price. And yes, I paid 5k over MSRP to get the car off the lost. No regrets so far after 2.7 years.
Gas prices had a lot of people trading there trucks in a for a smaller car, it's understandable. I hope you're happy with your new car.I got rid of my s2k for a tacoma. never was a truck guy, never used it to its potential, then gas was nearing $7 a gal at 15mpg. I wanted a sportier car that wasnt kid-ish(civic, subraru, 86 etc).
Sometimes the affordable option is better anywaySupra is the poor man’s Porsche 911…..
Please update us with the lap time on your new ride when you can, we are rooting for it to be even faster. The lap times my peers were producing, followed by a test drive. With all this torque and the transmission...I knew it would be quick. My first two serious track days have gotten rained out, but I'm optimistic that this car will be almost as fast as my last one, right out of the box.
Toyota Marketing does not play, but we are so glad to hear you're enjoying your car!Everything that checked the boxes for lower weight cars with decent power was insane markup or just not available. Started looking at generic lap times in magazines (I know not the most reliable data), weight, price and viola! Added bonus, found out it was a BMW Z4 on a diet, hardtop and cheaper ? Hence the Supra for the win ???
And the damn Toyota marketing team was smart. Had a helmet in the e-brochure, free track day, other press releases for tracking…. They were spot on. So no regrets whatsoever. This engine is amazing!!!!!
(since I already have a manual MX5, I’m getting to enjoy this beautiful ZF transmission - such a great package paired with the B58 ?)
Less than 40K? She's beautiful! You got a great deal!Spotted a 2020 Launch Edition online in my favorite color (red) priced at $46K with 5,000 miles on the clock. Was having trouble selling my 2009 STi. Dealer was 3 hours away, but drove the Supra up to me to check out. Love at first Drive! Signed the papers, they bought my STi, and here I am with my new to me Supra. For far less than $40K it was a no-brainer.
Was previously looking at RC-F and GT350 before I came across the Supra at that irresistible price.
That's great! How do you think Supra did on manual transmission compared to other manuals you've driven?I’ve said said since the Mk5 came out to my family and friends that if the Supra ever adds a manual option that will be my next car. Was so excited when that was announced. Lucky enough to have friends at a Toyota dealership to get a A91-MT below MSRP. Great reviews on manual transmission on YT and other small improvement for the 23 made me confident in decision.
Huge fan of yellow as well, so I'm glad to see the appreciation for it.The Supra is, for me, the best sportscar on the market for the price. And the best sportscar I can presently afford. As for colour, I chose the yellow because it is just the right deep shade of yellow and it is unashamedly in your face.. and lets face it, a little childish. I did consider the matte grey which is far more refined and sophisticated but nah.. I'll take the bright fucking yellow thanks.
And of course, it goes without saying that if no manual transmission was offered, it would never have been considered - Yes I test drove the automatic.. yawn.
if you crunch the number just right, and close both eyes, it sure does!Because a 3.0 premium was impossible to find so I bought the CF ?. Makes perfect financial sense right
I think they did an amazing job! First to 2nd gear was super touchy at first but everything just feels right and is a blast. That's great! How do you think Supra did on manual transmission compared to other manuals you've driven?
Love your profile pic, Greenville SC and Mazda! I hope you track your Supra at least once. You’re so close to the BMW factory/training center. Wonder if they’d let our BMW DNA ? cars on their track ? Wife and I have considered buying a place there… we want to be snow birds someday. Close to Paris mountain, Chattanooga, Clemson lakes to waterski, I just gotta do the math to see how close RA and VIR is to Greenville. Great place to own a Supra!!The daily: got a Mazda 3 4-door since it was the car that many of the editors at Edmunds (back in 2011) were actually driving. Car drives brilliantly and the electro-hydraulic steering rack still blows my mind and handles like a dream. In hindsight I would have liked a MazdaSpeed3 even more, but didn't really cross my mind. The Supra: Stumbled onto it, honestly. I was going to shop a used Cayman S, and M2 competition, but the test drive for both didn't go well. Learned could get a new Supra for less money than either the 718 or M2 comp (both were used), wife digs the styling, and rest is history.
Came so close to doing exactly this with my 2nd Supra purchase… Couldn’t find ? except for the badass really expensive one. Was thinking, what the hell. They want so much over sticker on the Premium or base 3.0 ones, I can get a CF at MSRP. It was tempting 4sho…. Fortunately it was yellow and the wife wasn’t having it (just came from a yellow Mustang). So I ended up finding my phantom with red interior 1000 miles away ?Because a 3.0 premium was impossible to find so I bought the CF ?. Makes perfect financial sense right
Would highly recommend Greenville. It's like sports car heaven around here. Huge BMW car club of America presence, M driving school, and Road Atlanta only 1.5 hours away. Shoot an hour north and Blue Ridge Parkway, lots of cool mountain roads.Love your profile pic, Greenville SC and Mazda! I hope you track your Supra at least once.
