Been looking at the tire threads, what is the consensus on which size to run is the best? The 285 is just .2” taller than the stock tire and the 305 is a hefty .8” taller which can affect the gearing but looks better. For the 305 camp did you notice a little loss in acceleration or did it not make much of a difference? Or is the 285 fine. I have a 305/30 on it now and that looks really good. I wish they made more sizes even a 295/35 would have been a good compromise of width without being to tall. It does change the final drive ratio from 3.15 to 3.06 (thats a good bit) with the 305/35. I’ve killed performance in Previous cars going to tall of a tire. Does it really matter in the Supra?

I’m running 305/35 Nitto 555r2. Maybe it’s just me but I can feel a little bit of the added weight, but this tire does grab the road.

it’s about the same weight i would bet that is the effect of the tire being much taller then stock. But it seems that is the one to go with and yea, that looks pretty sick!

I run 305/35. To me it’s the perfect looking tire. 305/30 is too thin in my opinion.

This is what I am considering upsizing to a 305/35/19 on stock wheels. Do you notice a significant increase in traction from the size change? I assume brand of tire on the performance side doesn’t matter as much as the upsizing in contact to the street?

Are you having any issues with putting the power down and squatting in the rear? If so how much power are you putting down before squatting becomes an issue on the 305s?

Chart comparison for stock 285/35/19 vs 305/35/19.

Honestly I believe tire compound makes a much bigger difference the the size. A Nitto R2 in a 285 will grip and hook better then a 305 Pilot 4s. That said, if you are not going with a drag radial I don’t think it matters as much. The difference between any of the top tier performance tires are not that much if they are UHP summer tires. Just stay away from Nitto G2’s they are garbage.

so when I bought this car it already had Nitto NT05R’s on it, and it’s always had them except when I borrowed a set of OEM’s for a Supras in Vegas track day a couple years ago. When the ones that came with the car wore out after 7k miles I put the same model tire back on as I really like the look of the tire. That big tread block down the center looks awesome to me. I seemed to at the time found 2 of the last 3 listed in the country as they have been discontinued for a while. But anyway. they hook on a “prepped street” and let me pull a 1.63 60ft. And 3.08 0-60 running them at 16psi. Stock turbo on e50 with 2500 DA 10.89 at 127 so they work pretty good. (All dragy numbers and our spot in “Mexico” runs downhill pretty decent so all invalid but all I have to go off) I run H&R springs and zero issues rubbing with the squat.
